Didn't have time to go for about five months because of our schedule. We were a little bit busy, but uh hooking up with a bunch of clients here of late, so that's gonna be awesome. We're gonna head off to the River Carey Resort and Casino Hotline, and I gotta tell you, I'm personally really happy uh that we're gonna have the next guest on because I think I've been in contact with him for three of the last five July first to see what he would do. He is back at Edmonton where he won a Memorial Cup with the Edmonton Oil Kings, uh the newest member of the Emonton Oilers, Curtis Lazard. Curtis, it's Bob. How you doing?
Doing pretty good, Bob.
How are you? Good. Uh lots of conversations over the years and boom. It uh it finally happened. Tell me your thought process, 'cause I know you had some other options and maybe some other options north of where Eventon was gonna come in cap wise, uh why the Emonton orders made sense at this time.
Yeah, well I mean if we kicked on trying on July first, we're due to make it happen. Um ultimately just uh I think the fit in itself, uh like you said, there's more stuff out there and whatnot, but Just what the Oilers have, um, the kind of the game that I play and what I bring to the table, I think it was a a perfect fit. Um, coming from, you know, a down season last year. I I got a lot to prove and the conversations that I've had so far is I got the opportunity here to grab something and run with it and really help this team out in a lot of ways. So Um you you I guess you add that to the fact that uh I got a history in Edmonton. I'm excited to come back there and relive some memories, see some familiar faces and whatnot.
Uh it's it's special, it's a no brainer for me and uh super happy day for myself and my family.
Yeah, uh I I remember seeing you a couple of years ago uh by the buses in New Jersey afterwards and I think you uh you just ha you know, you and your wife had just had a baby and uh I you were having a really good year in twenty three, twenty four, like a solid season. You mentioned a bit of a down year, uh what I I know you had a bit of a knee problem. What are you completely healthy now and how much did that undermine the personal success?
Yeah. Um, like I said, great season year before last year. Grant in some bad luck. The knee injury problem and some complications with the surgery, which uh it's kinda fine. My knee's awesome. It's it's great, it's strong, but uh some of the hardware they put in there just my body wasn't responding well, so The player that I am, I I mean, I'm always gonna wanna play, uh, even if it's not at a hundred percent. So I sucked it up and and legged out the season, but and saying that I was probably only healthy for about two weeks of the entire year. Um, I mean that's gonna open the door to your criticism and you know, lack of play and production and all that stuff, but I look at it as I mean, I I'm a hockey player, I just wanna play the game and any chance you get to to lace them up in the NHL, I'm gonna take it.
So I don't care if I'm at hundred percent or whatnot, I'm gonna give it my all. So finally put those issues behind me. Uh I've been training really hard. I'm back in Kelowna here in the summer. Um and just super excited. Uh just the way that my body's moving. Um, like I said, the opportunities that I have to
