I'm doing good I thought that was about me not the beef jerky but all right fair enough there we go uh well I mean I mean first of all we're well into the offseason at this point when you take a step back and you know look at the league as a whole which team do you think has had the smartest offseason not necessarily you know the the flashiest but what's one that's improved their their long-term outlook

Can I say local in Edmonton? I know it's a little convenient for me to do so, but I feel like I've been a reasonable arbiter of what I've liked and disliked about the Oilers organization over the last, I don't know, two decades or so. And I actually think they've had a pretty good summer. Yes, they're cap constrained. And I think the ultimate wild card here is how this coaching situation shakes out. And I know opinions greatly vary here. And I think reasonably so. I think that remains to be seen. But I have to say, you know, the Oilers getting off Darnell Nurse and that contract and what it's going to be able to do for them. Not just what it did this summer. They were able to bring in, you know, they were able to flex in a little, you know, they bring in a guy like Dickinson.

They shut through shedding nurses contract. They re up a couple of guys on, you know, one year and two years, smaller, thinner deals. The point is they keep the depth in place by and large. They get off a contract that was, you know, kind of like an anchor around their neck. And, you know, I have to give the organization, the Oilers organization, credit. Maybe it's partial credit. You know, numbers guys get stuff wrong like every 15 minutes. I'm the first one to acknowledge that. I think the numbers community, though, had nurse pinned pretty early on. And as you watched... I think a lot of the frustration around his game centered around how better teams attacked him in the playoffs, turned him into kind of a bit of a turnover factor.

And if he wasn't turning it over, he was playing a lot of defensive minutes. I think solving this problem is a big deal, though, because not only is it the salary relief that you're yielding from Nurse in that trade with San Jose, but it's also that you can now deploy that capital around the rest of the roster and the you have a pairing out there that you can reasonably bet on over the next couple of years may actually improve from what the Nurse pairing had been doing historically for the Oilers. So it's not so much, you know, and, you know, you hope that Darnell Nurse, the player, you know, finds his game and rebounds in San Jose. That's another team that I think... Uh, they certainly deployed a ton of money on the blue line, but I think they had a great off season just given where their prospect pool is at and celebrating and all these guys coming along.

So honestly, I think the sharks had another pretty good summer too. Uh, and maybe nurse thrives in a, in a different environment, different players, younger players around them. So this, maybe you hope it's a win-win, but right now I think for, from, from an Oilers perspective, you have to love that deal getting Freddie Anderson in that too.
