Hamer, obviously this is the first time we've spoken to you since the playoff game in March. How have you kind of had time to process that and I suppose are you still dwelling on it?
Yeah, yeah, you know, it's... It's a game of margins at this level. We are there. We're at least playing that good. It's a game of margins. The goals we conceded, We're in that manner that it hits somebody's shoulders and they have an equaliser. But looking at the game again and again and again, I think we played well against Cheche. Like I said, it's just details that we need to... to improve on, and that's why these two camps are really good for us, just to work on those details, try to step up, getting more depth into our squad. Maybe we are missing out on some player that should be there. So it's a good opportunity for those players who are new to come in and show themselves.
Who are the exciting young players to watch in the Ireland squad?
It's a good opportunity for us to look at players that we've kind of had as fringe players in the past, close to the squad, but we haven't picked. So, yeah, it's a good opportunity to grow, not only this camp, but also the one in May-June.
Obviously, it's not the camp that maybe Arden fans would have hoped for to have and maybe looking towards the World Cup, but there's some pretty exciting players in the squad. I think one name that people are going to get drawn to is Jade Numa. What have you seen from him maybe at underage level for Arden than at Benfica that you decided to call him up?
Yeah, he's one of the kind of high potential players that Ireland has. And it's always good to... to bring him up to this level and see if he's ready for this one. Obviously, physically he's ready. and he's been doing well at the club and I had a few talks with Benfica about him and they rate him highly and he's done well with the Ireland youth teams a scorer so yeah it will be exciting to see him he has many attributes and like I say a high ceiling but you never know with young players but it's good to have a chance to take a look at him
Obviously, there's players who are in the squad who maybe have had a handful of caps, but now it's their time to shine, the players who can't make it, obviously players still playing with their clubs. The likes of Andrew Moore and James Abanko at Conor Coventry with a couple of caps to their name. What are you looking from them in this camp when they're maybe seen as more senior players in this one?
Yeah, it's not only the new phases that we are looking at, it's also them. Can they step up in a project or a camp like this? Because it's a friendly, yes, and it's post-season. So we're looking at characters as well. We want these players to step up and lead. The ones that haven't been with us before, help them to adjust to what we are doing and try to help them integrate fast and it will be beneficial in the future. But it always shows a character. your daily habits, whether it's an important game or it's a friendly. It shows your character, what kind of character you bring to the table. And that's what excites me even as much as looking at new players, to see them in these environments. And the likes of Dara O'Shea now needs to step up and be the leader of this camp.
And Amol Ombi and those players that have been with us 90. have been with us for a long time, so it's now them to lead the younger and more inexperienced players.
What can you learn from those experienced players, but also the inexperienced? Am I correct in saying you have a longer time with the squad this time than you usually will in a normal break? What kind of differences or changes in habits or routines can you learn from that?
We have plenty of time, so we have actually eight days leading up to the Grenada game.
What is Victor Ozhianvuna's potential for the Ireland team?
We will play Real Musia, a Spanish club team in between, so we can use that as well to prepare for the Grenada game.
