So the lead story this evening, as you can imagine, is that the Republic of Ireland have been drawn against Israel in the UEFA Nations League, elsewhere in the group Ireland have drawn Austria and Kosovo. The FAI have already kind of acted to come out and say that they will be fulfilling this fixture. We knew this this morning, but they issued a statement saying that they will be fulfilling the fixtures against Israel after being drawn together in Group B3. Now, in their statement, they do refer to the motion that That was proposed by members of the FAI General Assembly to vote on issuing a formal request to UEFA for the suspension of Israel from European football competitions for a breach of UEFA institutes.

Daniel, how are you doing? How are you lads, all right? All good. Talk to us a little bit about this proposal that you put together for the General Assembly last year. I'm sure plenty of people are aware, but just give us the full picture here for anybody who's still catching up on this this evening.
Yeah, so we put forward a formal motion through the democratic system within the association to the General Assembly. And essentially, it was a resolution and it instructed, without delay, the FAI to submit a formal motion to the UEFA EXCO, the Executive Committee. to call for the suspension of Israel based on the violation of two provisions in UEFA statutes and the provisions without going into the exact detail of them, you know, just to save a bit of time. One of them is that they have teams playing in occupied lands. That's an irrefutable fact.
How did the FAI respond to the motion about Israel's suspension?
There's no subjectivity around it. It's just an objective fact. That statute, I think, falls under Article 73 of FIFA and Article 5 of UEFA. And secondly, the failure of the IFA, the Israeli Football Association, to implement and enforce an effective anti-racism policy. And there's been numerous examples of that. I'm conscious I don't want to I don't want to on the second one there, I suppose, downplay the importance of that. But that can lead to discussion. And the first one, you know, is the core, core issue for me. There are seven Israeli teams that play in occupied lands. The third, and it was a smaller part, was that we called on UEFA to publish transparent criteria for the suspension or exclusion of any member association.
You know, we have seen after four days of the conflict in Ukraine, the expulsion of Russia, and there's no clear criteria published. What I would say, though, is that it's very clear on the UEFA statute for breach of Article 5, the penalty that's listed is suspension and expulsion. So it's kind of a The past by 93%, and we should say, Irish football has many challenges. And I think there's been huge improvements made in the association the last number of years. Huge improvements in the League of Ireland, which we're all really proud of. But to see 93% of the people... And an organisation like the FAI vote for something is quite rare. And I think it was a really important vote. And it kind of summed up for me the greater public sentiment in Ireland, not just in the football community.

So why do you think the FAI have been so quick and strong in their statement today to say they will be fulfilling this fixture given... the opposite seems to be evident in what your relationship was or what you experienced to try to get this motion through because there seemed to be widespread support for it.
