Yeah, most importantly for us as a team. Big week we had, obviously to play Shells, Pats and Bowers, all in the space of around a week or so. Brilliant to get nine points. I don't think there's probably many Dublin clubs who'll do that this year, go into three Dublin derbies and come out with nine points. As you say, for me, obviously it's Sharmour Glovers, so a little bit sweeter, I suppose, but it's three points at the end of the day and just happy for the whole group.
Yeah, it's rare the way the fixtures have piled up that way, but I suppose the positive way of spinning it is the run that you guys are on to accumulate those nine points.
Yeah, we're obviously in a decent bit of form at the minute. We'll be disappointed probably when we look back at the Waterford one. It's probably a game we feel we should have won, but you can't dwell on things like that. We've bounced back properly in terms of the, obviously, as I've mentioned already, nine points out of nine in Dublin derby. So hitting a bit of form now, and I think we still have a couple of years to go.
Certainly hit form in the opening start of the game in particular.
Yeah, I thought we started well in the first half and then obviously second half is a little bit, you know, Bowers are going to come out and have a go and they've got good players so they create good chances and probably rode our luck at times a little bit. Sometimes you need that in a Dublin derby but yeah, first half I thought we were decent and I thought we were definitely the better team when we came in with a two-goal cushion and thankfully that was enough then in the second half.
Talk to me about the penalty incident. You had a couple of times where it kind of opened up in front of you, like it was a sign of your game really, your bombarding runs.
Yeah, I think there was a bit of space when we managed to kind of drag them forward in their press and then play through them.
What were the highlights of the Dublin derby match?
Michael, I thought was brilliant for us to have in terms of up against Todd and Hickey, he was coming, setting balls out and then we were able to go. the other side really quickly and I found myself in a lot of space as you say trying to run forward and give us that energy and I think probably the penalty I probably should do better I probably should get the shot off a little bit earlier in my opinion probably lacking that little bit of sharpness just for whatever reason I think I'll get stronger as the season goes on but yeah I'd be disappointed that I didn't actually get the shot off but thankfully we got the penalty and then second half probably another one that I should have got probably should have hit it on my left foot to be honest but kind of got stuck on my feet and I ended up chopping back onto my right but yeah got in some good positions tonight
Just on the penalty, there was a little bit of unsureness what happened. You were the closest lot. Was there a bit of contact as you were about to strike or were you probably in the process of striking really?
Yeah, to be fair, I think the penalty I get and then the penalty I give away are probably similar enough in terms of I go to pull my right foot back, Dawson puts his foot in and then I end up kicking his leg, similar with the one depending on what I give away, I'm throwing it over my shoulder, go to kick it. And I think Colin Whelan probably just puts his leg out there to be kicked. So they're similar enough. But yeah, thankfully, thankfully we got the first one and the second one's the one I want to forget about.
