But it was on Saturday night. And of course, the Irish women's team as well and the under-21s. So they were good results. It was a mad sporting weekend. Munster have been carrying too much dead wood for a while. Do you agree we should cut them loose and promote more academy talent to the first team squad? We are failing talented young players by sending them to the AL under the current rules. We need better proving grounds. What do you reckon, Quinny, on that?
Yeah, I think there's players that have certainly underperformed this year and there's an argument to say that there needs to be a more ruthless approach and the squad needs to be stronger. You cannot just, and I guess Dave's point there, you cannot just, obviously if guys are contracted, you cannot just kind of rip up contracts and dismiss players and stuff like that. And it sounds like a very ruthless approach, but... the quality needs to be better and the form of players needs to be better. And I noticed from when I was a player, particularly in the last couple of years I had, you have to play at a high level to, you know, my last three, two or three, three, I think, or one year contracts, which is you're on edge all the time.
You're saying like you're into the last four or five, six months. And like, that's when you're trying to get an extension or, start that process and saying, can I, I want to stay for another year? Am I playing well enough? Um, but yeah, there's, there's, there's players there that need to play better and they're certainly coming to a critical point in their careers from an age perspective as well. They're not young for us anymore. Um, and, uh, the younger players that are coming through need to, need to get more game time. You know, Michael Foy, the dog buzz, we've seen them coming through. Um, Brian Gleeson is coming through in the last couple of years, Rowan Quinn, Evan O'Connell.
