What happened at the British GP and why was it so chaotic?

Matt Gallagher 0:05
Hello everybody and welcome back, yes, to the P1 podcast with Matt and Tommy. I've never put a yes in the middle of my intro but you can feel the hype, the excitement, the smile is written all over my face for audio listeners because it is the Charles Leclerc, oh my god I can't even say his name, Charles Leclerc podcast. This is all we're going to be talking, I'm kidding, there's loads of things to get into. Now, you might be wondering, why did we not record this at the racetrack, guys? Well, yes, we're a bit late with it. Firstly, I will say, you have always said to us, go and enjoy yourselves, guys. We'll be here no matter what. Well, you best believe I'm going to be going into the statistics to see if you were telling the truth.

And two, there were a lot of things going on, and we kind of left the track like, we probably should find out what's actually gone on here, because there was so much more than what we thought had happened sitting where we were.
I overheard someone that was near us when we were watching the race and I heard them go, I don't know what's happening. And that is the most relatable thing. I think it cemented even more that this was an absolute chaotic race.

What were the memorable moments from the Silverstone race weekend?

So much going on that made it even more difficult to follow. and of course you've got the trackside commentary but then sometimes the cars are coming past and you can't hear it you've got a very kind of uh you're kind of trying to piece the puzzle together but uh thankfully like we know it was amazing to to be there and and witness that incredible race and be at silverstone again uh always a lot of fun and then yeah come back actually absorb the race watch it and uh Yeah, here we are.

Here we are. Loads to talk about. So much drama for the championship. And before we get into all of that, firstly, I want to say thank you so much to each and every one of you that came and said hello to us across the weekend. You came in your rafters for sure. And also for those of you that came to our live show as well today or whenever this goes out or whenever you're listening on the Sunday, of course, we did the main stage live show at 1040 and So many of you came out. The weather actually held for once in its life after being lightening off last year after seven minutes. This time we got the full show and we were able to meet so many of you afterwards. So thank you, thank you, thank you. It was truly such a special memory again to be on the Silverstone main stage and to just look up at the big old screens and just see Tom Bellingham there just doing his thing.

Oh, I tell you.
There was moments where we're in the crowd and you can just see all the crowd around you. And I'm just like, what is life? It was absolutely crazy. And then, yeah, I was very lucky enough that my daughter Grace could come see me on stage for the first time. And she was on the big screen. She was on the big screen. And I've got a little wholesome story to start the podcast. We were in the taxi on the way home and Grace was talking to the taxi driver that was taking us back to the... to the car i walked by the way just so just so we know who's more humble here i did have a four-year-old on my shoulders in absolute uh insane heat and i asked the person because we uh yeah had the artist parking because we're on the stage and i was like can you take me back and it was actually we were just behind george russell he just left the stage but and grace was waving to everyone as we left but she asked the taxi driver and was talking to the taxi driver the taxi driver was like
oh what was your favourite part of the day and I was like could be anything like Lego cars the pool everything loads of exciting things just firstly quickly the reason there was a swimming pool where we were we were at the pop-up hotel and they had a swimming pool which Grace was enjoying a lot wasn't she she was so I was I was already for her to say the pool and she said daddy's show and I was like I melted and for a split second I forgot that Max Verstappen ended the race in the gravel track
