Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 Podcast with Matt and Tommy. The final driver ratings before we get into the summer break. I tell a lie, we then have driver ratings for the mid-season. But our final submission before we get to our mid-season driver ratings averages. We take a look at who is our number one driver of the season so far. Who is last? and everyone else in between as well. Tommy, your final submissions, a reasonably strategic shake, shake the box kind of vibe. It was quite some, some drivers got away with things. Some drivers didn't VSC timings, lots to consider.
Lots to consider. Always fun for drive ratings when there's a bit of opinion based on good fortune and strategy, who's got the better strategy and how you see it. And some teammates, it wasn't two by two either with teammates and things. So yeah, a lot to dive into. Indeed. So let's do it.
Let's dive headfirst into... That sounds weird. Sergio Perez! What a phrase. Qualified 22nd and did not finish. Now we know both Cadillacs have DNF'd. All right, we're going to keep it short. We're going to keep it sweet. It's a 5 out of 10 for Sergio Perez. Of course, he had a problem with his suspension, which meant it was game over. He didn't do anything too crazy, but at the same time, he managed, I think... Was it two thirds of the race before his car went kaput? Maybe about two thirds. I think I've done a good, good math. The Cadillacs. What are we doing here, guys? Like you've gone from. Oh, all right. Little maybe a sniff of Q2 to now. They brought the upgrades in Austria. And then from there on, they've got worse.
It felt it feels like in terms of at least their reliability. You know, they're trying to push the pace of the car and the reliability has gone. Well, I cannot keep up.

I have gone for a 5 out of 10 for Sergio Perez as well. Car issues again. Like you say, Cadillac's reliability has got seemingly even worse. They've not got on top of it. There was a weird moment in FB2 actually where his brakes completely locked, like his rear brakes almost went into the wall. Bizarre moment. And yeah, just racing at the back with lots of problems. So a 5 for Perez.
The Vans gave him a 5 as well. Valtteri Bottas, qualified 21st, did not finish.
I'm going to give Bottas a 6 out of 10. I'm going to give him a little nod for being essentially a driver that missed FP1 and then looked faster than his teammate Perez this weekend. I think he's turned around his form. He's beaten him in qualifying and was running ahead of him in the race. So a little nod. I wish I could give him 5.5, but we can't in drive rating. So I'm going to give him a 6. Wow.
Bottas did like one sixth of the race. I am going to give Bottas a five out of ten. I can't give him a six. Barely did any of the race. More problems for him. Proud of him for getting on top of qualifying a little bit, but... At the same time, I am really struggling to do comparisons between the two of these drivers because they are having issues every single session, it feels like. So how on earth do you do any kind of comparison between the two? It's always Perez has problems. And I think that's what was the reason as to why Bottas potentially had the upper hand in qualifying. So I'm going to go for a five. Keep it fair. And the fans have gone for a five as well. Franco Colapinto.

I contemplated maybe one because he crashed in FP2. But overall, it's not like the most disastrous weekend ever. It's not like he finished 18th or 19th. It's, yeah, he wasn't on the pace of Gasly. That's fair to say. I think he struggled in sector two. And also, I think on the first lap as well, was a little bit too eager and went off the track, which cost him a few places. So, yeah, I mean, he finished 15th. Nothing to write home about. I don't think I'm going to downgrade him because the Alpine has shifted down below now Audi and V-Carb in sort of pace. So I've gone for a five.
