Hello everybody and welcome back to the P1 Podcast with Matt and Tommy. Pre-summer break edition. The Hungarian Grand Prix done and dusted. Then we head into the summer break after the podcast. That's kind of how I was seeing it. We're nearly there. We're nearly into a month off. But we have the Hungarian Grand Prix to chat about. Budapest, did it deliver? strategy was at a high and some people obviously every race we could have a thousand overtakes there'll be someone saying that was that was a bit mid that's a bit rubbish absolutely yeah for me i think this one i will have to argue with a lot of people that will go out there wasn't that good of a race i quite enjoyed the strategic element of what we saw today yes there wasn't much wheel-to-wheel battling yes we didn't really see a battle for the lead in the sense of norris and piastri going side by side but
I didn't really know what was going to happen until the last 10, 15 laps. It was pretty good.
Yeah, great. That's what I enjoyed about it as well, is it kept us guessing the fact that Lando, you know, wasn't leading, which made it more intriguing. The battle with his teammate. Yes, it was a case where it was really hard to overtake a lot of people getting stuck. But that kind of... There'll always be people that don't like those kind of races where you can't overtake or it's very, very difficult to overtake. But part of that, I think, made it exciting because it meant people going off different strategies. Antonelli's a great example that I thought one moment I think he was... locked on for six then i thought he's going to win then he wasn't uh thinking that he was going to finish six again then he finished third it and that can be said for a lot of drivers i think there was many many drivers during that race that we thought could have been on the podium pretty much all of the the kind of top five well piastri as well obviously at the race so
I think it kept us guessing quite a lot. And for a race with little overtaking, I think there was plenty to get excited about. I enjoyed it a lot, actually.
Yeah, it's a good point about not knowing who's going to win and at what stage of the race. I thought Charles Leclerc was going to win until the lights went out. Or until you saw the graphic where there were no tyres. Yeah, well, no. That side of the grid needs cleaning. I'm going to go to the Hungarian Grand Prix and I'm going to do what they did in Turkey and just put my road card down the sort of dirty side of the grid and just kind of keep going up and down, up and down, up and down just for next year if Charles does qualify second. And if he qualifies on pole, then I'll go and throw some dirt on it instead.
