Still think I'm digesting what happened in the sprint race and we've already now had a full qualifying session to now put our brains to as well. And if you'd seen the result between first and second, no, this is not the same. Actually, Tommy, should we just sort of copy and paste the sprint qualifying chat? Same thing. I think what is funny, though, is I'm pretty sure, I don't know if it's in the watch along or the sprint qualifying thing, but the biggest kind of gripe about qualifying and sprint qualifying is like, There's no difference. It's kind of going to be the same result.
And I'm sure we were like, oh, no, because they actually in Parc Fermé, they can change everything now. And yet they've done that. And you've got the same gap between first and second. The top five are exactly the same and Hülkenberg's still 11th. So, yeah, all that, all those things going on in Parc Fermé and we've got almost the same result. Right, let's just dive straight into it. No fluff. Q1, the bottom six were Ocon, Albon, Alonso, Perez, Stroll and Bottas. Slightly less surprising, perhaps, this bottom six. Didn't have a Gasly getting knocked out. You have an Ocon, I think, is probably a reasonably surprising one. Albon, perhaps, as well. Maybe Ocon not so much, considering the form he's been in recently.

Albon, very unlucky with the Groundhog incident, meaning he's been on the back foot the entire weekend. But overall... Not the most surprising of Q1s. Perez, I think, absolutely clear of Bottas. Alonso, clear of Stroll. One second clear of Stroll was Alonso. So, yeah, not much to report from the Q1. Not really, no. The usual four. Both Aston Martins, both Cadillacs. At the back, unable to do anything. No heroics from Alonso to get into the next session this time. Sadly for him, but yeah, absolutely miles ahead of his teammate. And same with Sergio Perez. Bottas struggling again. We said that normally Perez is much better in the race, but the key to Bottas is kind of The trend of his whole career has been as qualifying, but not today.
Not today. Actually, I tell a lie. There was something to report from Q1 and that was an incident between Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton. Now, as of recording right now, it is being investigated. I do not know a world where Hamilton gets away with this. I genuinely don't. I truly believe that this is a slam dunk impeding penalty so essentially what's happened is Gasly's on a push lap from my understanding Hamilton is on a warm up lap during Q1 and you can find the video online but it's basically in the middle sector after the Albon Marmot incident area that fast right left essentially Hamilton is weaving all over the place and getting his tires into a good window, clearly not realizing that there is a fast Gasly behind pushing.
Um, and then you think, okay, maybe he spotted him after he's gone through the right left. Nope. Continues weaving until Gasly is basically alongside. Then Gasly locks up board, you know, goes deep into the, into the hairpin before the back straight. Um, And I know that there is the argument of it doesn't matter because Gasly made it through out of Q1. That's not how the rules work, because that would just open up the most insane can of worms. Well, he almost stuck him in the wall, but he made it through, so that's fine, right? So everybody gets away scot-free. I think this has to be an impeding penalty. As much as it's Q1 and feels irrelevant, it's the rules. It is the rules, but I will say that it won't be a penalty.
I do agree with you that I think it should be, but the stewards love to just ignore moments like this, particularly however much we say, oh, you shouldn't take the incident into account.
