We'll be right back.
Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Mindful Mystics Podcast. I'd like to say hello to my co-host tonight, Chuck E.G. Hi, Chuck E.G.
Hi, Cheryl. How's it going?
Doing quite well. How are you this week?
I'm doing good. I'm a little pooped today, but you know, it's okay. We had a long day at work, but I'm all jazzed up now. I just learned how to use MailChimp. Oh my God, that's mind-blowing in itself. So I
was
finally able to use that. And yeah, I'm getting this also candidly, all sorts of different stuff for classes I'm teaching. And yeah, so it's been an interesting evening so far.
Yeah, I know all about the male chimp.
Mm-hmm. Darn monkey.
Yes. Well, tonight you will be very excited because we have a phenomenal guest to talk with.
Okay.
And I want to tell you a little bit about her. So let me just dive right in. All right. Tonight we're going to be talking to Alana Selke. She has dedicated her adult life to metaphysical exploration and she spent about four decades researching, experimenting, writing and teaching about human potential, manifestation, quantum dimensions and living from vision. As a modern day mystic, she helps others discover the power of their consciousness to create a successful life. She is also an international bestselling author, seminar leader, musician, and CEO of Living from Vision. She built and operates the Shambhala Oceanside Retreat Center in Bali with her husband, Dr. Don Paris. And Ilana and Don have lived on the island already.
let's see, on an island north of Seattle for over 30 years, as well as in Bali, where they run the Shambhala Oceanside Retreat Center and the Shambhala Spa.
Wow.
Wow. That's cool.
That's a lot.
Yeah, that's cool. There's more. There's more. Get ready.
Okay.
Ilona has written several books and recently released her book, Dream Big, The Universe is Listening, Creating a Better World for Yourself and the Planet. And I would like to tell everyone that we had the pleasure of featuring Ilona and her work in the October 2022 issue of Paranormal Underground Magazine. And I'm really excited to cover some of the topics we talked about in the magazine in more detail here tonight. And so I want to say welcome. Ilona,
and
I keep saying your name back and forth, so please clarify it's Ilona, not Ilona. It's Ilona,
not Ilona. It's Ilona. Yes. Hi, Cheryl. It was a pleasure hearing you guys chat ahead of time. Thank you for having me.
Thank you so much for joining us. We're so excited. And, you know, when we featured you in the magazine, Your story really, really inspired me. And so I'm glad you joined us tonight to talk a little bit more about what you do. And I guess I kind of wanted to start with something that you told me for the magazine. And that's as a young child, you realized that you could communicate with the universe, right? And then you realized that because you were conducting some of your own experiments as a child.
And so I was
wondering if you could start off by describing how that process worked for you and how you came to that realization that you could actually communicate with the universe.
Cool. Yes, I love telling that story. And you know, for all of us listeners, it's something we all need to take home because the punchline is something we tend to do wrong and we really need to get it right. I will tell you the story how it went. So by age 10, I had kind of discovered that the universe must be listening to me because I always got what I didn't want. So I thought, you know, how can that be? I mean, I didn't want this. I didn't want that, but I got it. So there's got to be some communication going on. So I thought, you know, I can test this. I can test it with something I really want, but tell the universe I really don't want it. So for Christmas, I decided I'm going to silently think and tell nobody that
I, well, wanted a bike, but I told the universe I did not want a bike. So, you know, every now and then throughout the months prior, I would say, dear universe, I do not want a bike. But tell me what you do when you say I don't want a bike.
