What is the main theme of today’s Mindful Mystics episode?
Hello and welcome to Mindful Mystics. I'm Cheryl Knight Wilson and I'm here with my co-hosts Karen Fraser and Chucky G. How are you all today? Uh I was
just taking a drink, which was really really bad timing when you think about it. It's like I like I didn't know that that was gonna happen. I'm good. Thanks for asking. Just getting over COVID, getting over the Rona. Oh God, thank God you're getting over it. First time w so we m we had a good run, four years. That's a good run. Yeah. Yeah, we both got it. We were in South Dakota. Um, at the time we were on a road trip, but we had in the middle of the road trip flown back east to uh JFK Airport to New York, uh, 'cause I was at the Omega Center last week and or a couple weeks ago now. Um, and we got it on the way home on the road trip in South Dakota. And so we drove home two eleven hour days, uh, existing on meat sticks and oh wow and kind bars.
Delicious.
Delicious meat sticks. Yeah. Yeah.
Well, well, welcome home. Glad you're feeling better. Thanks.
How are
how are you, Chucky G?
I'm fine. Uh had a little cold there a little bit, but other than that I'm um I'm good. I went to the gym this morning, pumped some iron, made myself feel a little bit better and um took some black elderberry to kinda make sure that, you know, whatever's creeping up t doesn't get a hold of me and slam me to the ground. But I So your
father was a hamster and your mother smells of elderberries then?
What the hell?
It's a funny Python thing. I don't know
what you're talking about. I'm like what?
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I think it's something like your mother was a hamster and your father smelled about the battties or
something. So you're like, I'm sorry, where do we go off track there? What the hell's going on?
I love that impress imper impression character. I know that was really more Irish than than English, but you know
So every
okay, thanks for that. That was great. Great. Um so everybody's on the mend. I'm happy about that. Yes. And we today are gonna have um um interesting topic. Now we've talked about this a little bit before, but we're gonna kind of get more it down into it and and really analyze it. We're gonna talk about our most mind blowing, paranormal, and metaphysical experiences and what might have caused them. And actually let's focus on metaphysical. Spiritual. I kinda wanna ask each of you, start off by asking each of you to tell me about your most mind blowing metaphysical or spiritual experience and what you think might have caused it. Karen, do you want to go first?
Oh, I was so afraid you were gonna ask you good
gives me time to
Yeah. Um uh so just so y'all know this is how the sausage is made.
How did Karen’s peaceful walk lead to a breakthrough in her faith?
We decided like three minutes ago to do this show and this topic. So realizing that Cheryl and I are both gonna be busy, and so we've got to get the topic in. And so I've had exactly three minutes to think of this. So this is actually uh I don't know if it's my most mind blowing, but it's certainly interesting one. Um, and it it was some Something that was years ago before I even really was doing the things I do and the things I believe in, believed in the things I believe in now. So I've talked a lot about um in the magazine and in my columns and when I used to write blogs for the website and things, I've talked a lot about how I've always felt that um faith. has been the central struggle of my life uh because I was raised in a Christian household and um I didn't believe those things.
I I and so I saw all these people who had great faith, right? And I felt like I was doing it wrong. Um because I didn't have that kind of faith. And um so when I was in my my very early twenties. Um no, I was actually I was probably about 30, come to think of it, because Tanner had was Tanner was a baby. I used to go out for a morning walk. And um I was doing my usual struggles with faith thing and um was sort of comparing myself, comparison is a thief of joy, don't do it, but I was sort of comparing myself to other people again. And so on my walks I would think about these things and I would really churn over these Christian beliefs that I was raised with but never bought into in my mind and kind of wonder what was wrong with me.
