Hello, and welcome to this episode of the Mindful Mystics podcast. I'm Cheryl Knight, and I'm here with my wonderful co-hosts, Karen Frazier and Shucky G. Hi, everyone.
Karen Frazier 0:30
Hey, we're wonderful.
Cheryl Knight-Wilson 0:32
Yeah, I'm really excited about this podcast because it's that time of the year. It's the time of the year for gratitude and Thanksgiving. And so today we're going to embark on a little journey into the heart of gratitude and And we're going to delve into the profound and transformative power of gratitude in our lives and how that affects our mental health, our relationships, and how it can even alter our perception of the world around us. And I'm super excited because we have a special guest tonight. His name is Jim Frazier. Hey.
Jim Frazier 1:10
Oh, hey.
Cheryl Knight-Wilson 1:12
Hey,
Karen Frazier 1:13
he's sitting next to me. He's playing Sudoku on his phone, not paying any attention, even though he has agreed to be on the podcast.
Jim Frazier 1:21
Wow. Thanks, Jim.
Karen Frazier 1:23
I'm not
Jim Frazier 1:23
paying any attention that you can tell.
Karen Frazier 1:25
You know, he turned 60 last weekend. Happy birthday. Hey, welcome to the club. The big 6-0 birthday. And I think that I'm noticing his brains are turning to scrambled eggs a little. yeah yeah you know it happens i know it happens
Jim Frazier 1:46
i can still wax you at scrabble
Karen Frazier 1:48
you can still wax me he's still at wordle he still beats me at wordle like almost every day so oh that's impressive
Jim Frazier 1:56
i'm like 170 and oh i've never lost wow
Karen Frazier 2:00
and and how do you feel about that grateful yeah
Chuckie G 2:06
i heard the whispering oh
Karen Frazier 2:12
oh my
Jim Frazier 2:14
goodness
Karen Frazier 2:16
so anyway um cheryl i know that you kind of first of all great introduction way better than mine would have been because mine would have been like hey this is i can't remember the name of the podcast and i'm karen and tonight we're going to talk about gratitude okay
Cheryl Knight-Wilson 2:33
hey that's why i wrote it down karen that's why i wrote it
Karen Frazier 2:36
down
Chuckie G 2:37
Those are some fancy words. I have to say, Cheryl, there's some fancy words.
Karen Frazier 2:42
They were very good. All right. So you have an agenda.
Chuckie G 2:46
Oh boy.
Cheryl Knight-Wilson 2:47
Well, I do. Um, and we can go with the flow and that'd be real fun. But basically I thought we could start off with Jim, with you and Jim talking about, well, why we're doing this podcast, why Jim's joining us. And, um, What's going on, Jim?
Jim Frazier 3:10
Apparently, I had a breakthrough. I
Karen Frazier 3:12
would say that's true. So just, I mean, for a little bit of context, Jim and I have struggled from time to time because we have very different outlooks on life. I am a Sagittarius, and we are the Tiggers of the Zodiac. We're very upbeat and happy and optimistic. And Jim is a Scorpio, which is not... the Tigger. Oh, see, check those. Not the Tigger of the Zodiac. Scorpios tend to be kind of brooding and mysterious and deep and that type of thing. So while I'm describing this, he's still playing Sudoku, by the way. It's probably because it's timed. Anyway, so we've struggled with some things over the years and it's nothing we've never been able to overcome. But a lot of it has had to do with Jim's kind of crotchety.
Karen Frazier 4:06
Would that be a good way of putting it?
Jim Frazier 4:10
maybe
Karen Frazier 4:12
yes crotchety outlook on life and so i noticed um and so for instance i remember what brought it up uh last weekend we celebrated his birthday in the past us if anybody giving jim attention for his birthday and celebrating his birthday would have actually like made him deeply uncomfortable and almost pissed him off And this time it was my goal. We were at a ghost conference with a lot of people. It was my goal to have as many people saying happy birthday to Jim as possible. And so my class saying happy birthday to him, the entire conference saying happy birthday to him. And then he also had to wear the hat at a Mexican restaurant and take a shot of tequila from, well, something he wouldn't normally take a shot of tequila from.
Karen Frazier 4:57
We'll just leave it at that.
Jim Frazier 4:58
I doubted the cleanliness, so I airdropped
Karen Frazier 5:00
it. On the way home, I said, you just reacted to this so differently than I've ever seen you react to your birthday. He actually enjoyed it. He wasn't mad or crabby or uncomfortable. He actually recognized that it was people honoring him and loving him. So I said, what has changed? And now it's Jim's turn.
