How would you categorize your role in exorcising demons then?
Well, it's not exercising. It's having authority over them. And as a born-again Christian, I surrendered my life to Christ while I was in the Marine Corps back in 1986. I received, like any Christian who yields himself, the power of God's spirit, and I believe the truth of God's word that he has given us all authority over the demonic. So I simply pray for people who have struggles, but like I've told other interviewers, the catchphrase exorcist, a Catholic priest wouldn't call me an exorcist. I think they're the only ones that can carry that title.
Well, I am a Catholic, so what you're purporting to be capable of doing is pretty similar to an exorcist. What I thought would be interesting for the purposes of our viewers who don't know you, Victor Marks, is I don't think I've ever seen a candidate to be a governor who has so many extraordinary stories swirling around about him. I would say it's not characterized correctly, but I, well, let me ask you this for context. Do you personally believe in evil as a Catholic? Sure, sure. Okay. So I do believe animals can sense things in people or evil spirits. I do believe that. But I have a trained canine who was tracking on a fella and a young lady across the way. I never stepped into the water, but I actually visited with them. I just walked over. Started conversation. And it eventually led to me asking this young woman, hey, do you want prayer for anything? Because I pray for people all the time. And she actually broke down in tears and said, yes, I really need prayer. So I prayed for her. And we do believe there were five demonic assignments against her.
And when we were done, which was a short time, there's nothing drastic. There's nothing Hollywood.
