Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the podcast. Of course, I'm Matt Kansey joined with my brother, Chris Kansey. And, you know, this is going to be kind of a quick little intro because I've been a little spoiled. I saw my brother last week. We were able to record a couple of days ago. And so we're kind of hot and heavy with some guests right now and being able to catch up. So but anyway, you know, Chris, as always, it's great to see you. And I you know, what's going on? Any changes from last time we chatted? No, no, no, just trotting along, just making my way through the world as we do. Yeah, you know, I don't know what you can share or not, but last time, one of the things I picked up on in one of our conversations, it's, you know, when I saw you in Florida about a week ago, I mean, you were like, you know, beginning to end of the day, like seven meetings and whatnot, seemed like you had a lot going on.
which is keeping you kind of busy in this time that I thought you'd be spending a lot more time kind of just chilling at home. Anything that you want to update us on and what's going on? Anything cool that you're working on? Well, when you're touring, you have one artist in front of you and you're very regulated in your tasks. I'm not touring this year. So that means there's several little things going on. Some of them very small, some of them big, but they all need their own attention, you know. So, you know, yeah, lots of Zooms. I love Zoom. You know, Zoom is so great. I mean, well, for advancing, it's just the best. I love asking a tricky question and seeing the look on their face to see if there's a hard swallow or an eye roll or something. Yeah, yeah. That's my favorite, you know.
Although it's from my perspective, it's kind of cool because at first, like you said, you were going to be home for the year. Wasn't quite sure how this was going to, you know, look for you. But obviously you want to keep busy. So you're keeping your hand in the mix and a little bit, which is good to see. But anyway, but cool. So anyway, I'm going to let you kind of take it from here and, you know, introduce our guest today and let's see what happens here.
Yeah, yeah, nice. Today we've got Joe Sanchez with us. Joe's a former production manager, touring guy, veteran, but now he runs his own company called 1826. So Joe, welcome to our podcast. How are you, man? Good. How's it going, guys? Really, really, really, really good. You know, we have a lot of touring vets on and they come in and, you know, they tell their war stories and this and that and, you know, how they saved the day and whatnot. But your story is a little bit different. You went on the road, you know, you cut your teeth, you know, you did your time as a production manager. But then your eyes got a little bit bigger, I think. You know, you came off the road and started your company 1826, which I'd love to hear about. Was touring on the road, did that prepare you for starting your own company for 1826? Was that your...
Your training ground for 1826. Yeah, it was. And I took everything I learned. I mean, I was touring for the best part of, I don't know, 24, 25 years. And I look back at that period of my life very fondly. But I also knew that it wasn't for me. Once I kind of got much over 40, I was kind of like... It wasn't what I wanted to do when I was older. And, you know, if I'm honest, I kind of was a little bit unsure for a while. And I was offered a couple of jobs and I considered that. And then kind of it was actually really, really my wife, Nicole, who I'd met on Rihanna's tour. I was learning on Rihanna's tour for about three and a half years or so. Three years or whatever it was. And she was one of Ree's background singers. She was like the main background singer for the whole time I was touring. And I met her and we started dating and stuff. And her dad was very entrepreneurial. He's still alive. But he built this huge business selling disposable medical products and was very successful. And she'd grown up in that sort of entrepreneurial sort of
