What injuries emerged during the Bears' physical training camp practice?

Press Taylor 0:01
It's just like anybody. I mean, it's like our entire unit. It's just consistency day to day. You know, as practice dragged along yesterday and you're going from live periods to... you know, a 13 personnel emphasis period where things are physical and we're running the ball to then all of a sudden we're in a two minute in the game and the dynamic, the situation changed. Our communication has to continue to elevate in these situations. And I think you've seen he has the ability to elevate his play. We need just the consistency down in, down out, the communication in the huddle, out of the huddle, at the line. That's something that will always be a continued ongoing process for Caleb.

Trahimi Harrison-Grody on 104.3 The Score. We will get you up to date on what's going on in Bears camp, a very physical camp in which there have been some key names to leave the practice with injuries, the extent to which we don't know. But I'll update you on those here in just a second. It's a fluid day because the Cubs are making moves today as well. According to Megan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs have recalled left-hander

Which Chicago Cubs roster moves were highlighted and why do they matter?

Mark Grote 1:09
Braxton Garrett from AAA Iowa, and they have optioned reliever Tyler Ferguson. Braxton Garrett was part of the trade deadline moves for the Cubs, a lefty pitcher. He was traded for prospect first baseman Jonathan Long. He's a finesse ground ball specialist. Once upon a time ago, he was the seventh overall pick of 2016. So Braxton Garrett is here to help for the Chicago Cubs. As far as the Chicago Bears are concerned, there are multiple Bears that are injured today. And again, and we'll get to this and what's a very physical practice out there today. And we've got Herb Howard live from Hallis Hall at 1125. Starting from earlier today, Braxton Jones walked off the field alongside head athletic trainer Andre Tucker.
Mark Grote 1:58
They were visiting off to the side before heading into Hellas Hall. And so Karan Amagadji was getting the first team snaps at left tackle. Montez Sweat also walking into Hellas Hall at one point in time with Andre Tucker under his own power. Important to point that out.

How did the hosts describe the impact of the 130‑minute practice on the team?

Mark Grote 2:15
Per Kevin Fishbane, Sweat seemed to slow up during a rep in 11-on-11 and took himself off of the field. Now we've got a couple of other injuries that have just popped up. Second-year defensive back Jervarius Owens carted off the field, unable to apply any weight on his left leg. A physical practice for the Bears has brought several injuries. That's from our guy Chris Emma of the score. And the reason is, and maybe the name Jervarius Owens doesn't sound familiar to you, that's okay, but he is one of the depth pieces at safety. And we know that right now, with the injury to Kobe Bryant, Safeties and Nichols, which Owens is capable of playing too, are at a premium. Cam Lewis has been the guy that they have inserted.
Mark Grote 3:01
Elijah Hicks has been dealing with a shin injury. You also have on the depth chart the depth bodies, Anthony Johnson Jr., is one of those guys, and Skyler Thomas. So just to hear that another safety was injured, not particularly good. Also, one more, I'm sorry, but this per Chris M., a veteran cornerback, Dallas Flowers, who's been around for a while.

What concerns did offensive coordinator Press Taylor raise about the offense?

Mark Grote 3:24
He just keeps coming back, Dallas Flowers. Helped off after a non-contact injury to his right leg. He was in clear pain after going down, and the Bears stopped the practice.
Marshall Harris 3:35
Oh! Longest practice so far is scheduled to be 2 hours and 10 minutes, and man, it feels like the Bears are feeling every bit of that 130-minute practice, Grody. Look, some of this stuff, we'll see how serious or how not serious some of these injuries are, but it's just a reminder that training camp is real, and once you get the pads on, anything can happen. I mean, non-contact-wise, things can happen without the pads on, 7-on-7, whatever, but You just hope the Bears come out of this experience, the training camp experience, relatively healthy. They're not going to be everyone healthy, but relatively healthy.
Mark Grote 4:13
Yeah, there was some. And part of the reason why today is maybe that this is a hard, long practice.
