Remember, he's in the bottom third of the order every time he gets into the lineup, right? He's now batting over .300. The OPS is .849. If you're getting the type of production... that the Cubs got from the bottom of their lineup in this game on a regular basis, they're going to be in every game and they're going to win more than they lose. It's a great formula. I think Craig Council has done a pretty good job of just extending his lineup. And remember, this is a game in which Dansby Swanson wasn't even available.
Well, and that's part of it to me is I feel like I don't think they were built to mirror each other by any means, and payroll would indicate that as much as anything. But these two teams match up well. You know, we saw that in the wild card game. They are built to have these boppers, especially last year when Tucker was on the team. Cubs are developing their hitters now, as we've seen outside of like a Bregman and Nico Horner, you know, the younger guys like PCA and Shaw. But when it comes to the idea of a lengthened lineup, using your pinch hitters in a really efficient and systematic and, most importantly, effective way, the bullpen for the Padres is shut it down.
