What was David Peterson's performance in his Cubs debut?
Rahimi Harrison-Grody. I'm not a fan of any team. I'm just a fan of being right.
Middays 10 to 2 on 104.3 The Score. What's up, everybody? It's Rahimi Harris and Grody on the score. Marshall and Grody in today. Hey, keep listening for your chance to win a pair of tickets to the B-52s and Devo at Credit Union 1 Amphitheater on September 17th. Tickets provided by Live Nation. We are open for you to text or to call at 312-644-6767. I want to rattle off... Three straight text messages because they're all really good and they're all worth discussing. Can I do that, Marshall? Of course. Let's ride. Here it goes. From 3-1-2. The Cubs offense is better than Milwaukee's on paper. Milwaukee is better in reality. That's how it's been for multiple years. And then he goes on. And not to damper your enthusiasm, but the Brewers played better on Sunday.
I'm sure you can make a case for that in a lot of different places. We talked about one of them. That'd be Alex Bregman. 6-3-0. Grody, the Cubs just won the series by scoring more runs. If the Cubs' offense is clicking, they are better offensively. And then finally here, if council doesn't... doesn't sit Bregman down today for the lack of running hard, then he is an awful manager. I'm sick of the veterans. Benefit of the doubt that he hasn't earned. And drop him in the lineup.
I don't think he needs to be benched, but he definitely needs to be dropped in the lineup.
What are the consequences then? We just talked about it in the first segment of a radio program and played audio of it.
I don't think in that moment Craig Council needs to do anything to Alex Bregman. I think Alex Bregman knows by result of what happened because he is a veteran in this league. Remember, he's never had a season where he's played Major League Baseball where his team did not go to the playoffs. Just remember that as kind of the prism through which you're looking at this. Craig Council knows when a veteran sees that he makes a mistake, that's why he did try to run harder on the back end of that play.
Oh, the old, oh, gotta go, gotta go.
Exactly, and 312-644-6767. Keep the text coming, but also call us if you have a reason why you think Alex Bregman should be in the lineup, out of the lineup, move down if you're smart like me. It's an open conversation.
How did the Cubs' offense compare to the Brewers?
Now, the one thing I will say is Matt Shaw, with the wrist, had to get pinch hit for him. We don't know what his situation with his wrist, that might limit what Craig Council can do as far as actually benching Alex Bregman today. Although, I think Pedro Ramirez plays third base, so there's that.
Let's not forget about the impact that everybody talks about that Alex Bregman had when he joined the team initially. What did he do? We heard that there were reports that he's doing scouting reports on guys and he's giving guys tips and advice.
So he could sit next to Craig and he can, you know, they could be Craig sitting in the middle. You have Tommy Haddavy on one side and you got Bregman on the other side.
But I mean, for him to be the lack of effort guy, and I know it's just one play, but for that guy to be the lack of effort guy is pretty bad.
Yeah. And maybe it's just because I don't, I don't think that that's Alex Bregman's mentality. We all know that this is a really good baseball player who probably for most of his life has been a guy that has hustled. For most of his baseball life, he is a guy that has done things correctly. But this season has been sideways for him and weird things are happening with him, obviously at the plate, and now just sort of a mental blip. with the effort, and I'm not saying you sit down because you didn't hustle. Maybe it was just a good sign that he needs a little bit of a rest tonight. I'm not saying bench him for multiple days, but just take a deep breath for one night against the San Diego Padres.
No, I would keep him in the lineup. I just would have him batting seventh or sixth or somewhere down there.
I'm not sure I'm getting you right now.
What do you mean? Okay, okay, okay. Alex Bregman has having a down year, but he's not having a Dansby Swanson offensive year.
