You thought, you know, some of the 2025-2026 season was going to come into play here when you thought about the miraculous comebacks the Bears had. Olin just came up a bit short for many reasons, but Tyson Bajent, you know, unfortunately couldn't come through with that touchdown at the very end.
Yeah, man. I mean, a long day at Soldier Field there on the lakefront, obviously with the rain really affecting both offenses, helping out the defense. You want to play a florid offense, but you don't want to play it in the pouring, consistent rain, especially. But, you know, when Caleb goes down, man, the air just leaves the stadium. Things go dead quiet, and you're just hoping. It's not as bad as it looked, right? And them staying at the end of the game, Pat, That was, it could be a right hamstring injury. It's about the best news I've gotten since Caleb went down. But you saw with Devin Bush's, you know, drops that interception there when he, you know, they blitz and the cornerback blitz and he makes a nice play to get in front of receiver and that drops and then the thing just kind of went that way the whole day for Chicago Bears.
But when it looks like Caleb's about to score and take the lead on that boot, naked off their outside run game, Pat, and he goes down, man, that, I don't know how you felt on your couch. But I just sat there in complete silence for about 10 minutes. I didn't know what to say. I just really hope he's okay. Obviously, he's still trying to lead on the way on the cart, takes the towel off his head. He's got tears in his eyes, and he's waving to the stadium. So I hope that guy is okay.
Yeah, I just think the whole city's deflated. You know, you get excited when they get down there like that. Okay, the Caleb magic in the fourth quarter is going to happen. And that's tough, man. You know, Olin, we've been on sidelines when we've seen star players go down. I remember when Erlacher went down with his wrist injury, thinking, oh, no, you know, is he done for the year? And they came to the sideline and told us how serious it was. And it's just deflating to a team. It's deflating to the city. And you're right, Olin, sitting here on this couch, I was just, you know, thinking, you know, what's the season going to be like for the rest of the year? Thinking it's Achilles, I think everybody was thinking that, and then the best news we could hear is a hamstring, and hopefully it's not too bad, but it's deflating.
But that's the storyline of the game, right? But other than that, I mean, 59 points to three points to that point of the game is a little shocking, just how ugly the offense looked with all the penalties, the illegal snaps to the illegal formations to all that kind of stuff, to the two turnovers that they had, the drop interception you talk about, the blocked kick. with a high snap and a missed punch by Sam Roush on the left wing. Got the timing off there. You thought at least they would come away with three points. Overall, it was just an ugly game offensively. As high praises as we sang all week, it was the complete opposite. And then the injury to Caleb is just deflating. We don't know what the future is going to be like, but we're here to break down this game now, and I'm sure we'll continue talking about Caleb.
But it's just really disappointing overall to see what the Bears came out with and what you were hoping to see against the Flores. defensive after what they did to the Carolina Panthers.
Yeah, if you did not hear or did not catch the end of the game and you're just watching us, Caleb Williams, and what would have been what we assume was a drive that would have gave the Bears the lead had he been able to complete that play, unfortunately falls down. You see it initially with Ginkle kind of chasing him.
