Rahimi, Harris & Grote Show
Previewing Bears-Rams & Cubs introduce Alex Bregman (Hour 1)
15 Jan 2026
Chapter 1: What are the key matchups in the Bears-Rams playoff game?
This hour is brought to you by Menards.
Save big money at Menards. The views and opinions of Layla Rahimi, Marshall Harris, and Mark Grody should not be taken too seriously. Especially when they give advice. Do not take Marshall's analogies literally. Especially when it comes to Russell Dorsey. The sports thoughts of Rahimi, Harris, and Grody may change at any time. It's just sports. Okay, thanks, bye. Rahimi, Harris, and Grody.
10 to 2.
On 670 The Show.
Lil Wayne went after Caleb Williams pretty hard on Twitter. There was a lot of petty happening, so petty industries had to siphon its resources and divide and conquer. We didn't get to everything. One of the things we didn't get to was the Lil Wayne calling out Caleb Williams. So I was like, man, I'm not acknowledging this. But I do acknowledge conflict resolution.
That Lil Wayne apologized to Caleb Williams. Now, when you read this, does it not read like a song? Should we do this together?
I'm going to let you do it. I'm going to let you do it.
Hey, Kayla, don't mind me, bro. I'm just a cheese head for life. And you're just a killer and you killed us bad. Each time and for that, you get praise gesture from me. And then he throws up the praise hands. He typed, I love the game. I-L-U-H.

Chapter 2: What did Sean McVay say about the Bears ahead of the game?
I love the game. And it'd be impossible to make that statement without acknowledging and admiring your game, King. You a beast, but you're still a bear. And then he ends it with a cheese emoji.
You know when the last time they beat us in the playoffs? What was that? It was actually, I don't want to say, the Titanic. I really wish we had like a video of Lil Wayne saying this because of his unique voice like this. Young money. He does.
Hey, Caleb. Hey, Caleb, don't buy me, bro. I'm just a cheesehead for life. You just a killer. You killed us bad each time. And for that, you get the praise gesture from me.
It's like, I love the game. But that's too low. That's not high enough to be Wayne. You a beast, but you still a man.
That's it.
Thank you.
That's it. What's Caleb playoff game streak? Caleb quote tweeted that. He did respond. Wheeze. It's all love. Hashtag bear down, though. Let him know he ain't letting up.
Whee, whee, whee.
Foot on your throat. Your whole organization's throat. Caleb. Layla Rahimi. Marshall Harris. Mark Grody. Middays 10 a.m. to 2 on Chicago Sports Radio 670. The score. The score. The score.

Chapter 3: How does Alex Bregman feel about joining the Cubs?
This is the playoffs. Yes, 100%.
But see, I also think that the playoffs should be separated in Petty because that's just, you're a gamer. Big time players make big time plays and big time coaches say big things. Again, this is really good for our FM audience we're going to get.
Why did big ego just pop into my head when you said that?
Because it's all kind of there. But the point is, whatever way you need to psych yourself up, whatever music you need to run through that proverbial tunnel, whatever you need that can help you wake up every day, if it is indeed system of a down or whatever else you may fancy, I feel like that has been the case for Ben Johnson using all of this for motivation for his team, most importantly.
Us secondarily and perhaps him tertiary or primary. So Sean McVeigh, I think it was inevitable that he was going to be asked about this, especially when Stephen A. Smith decided to stoke those flames, saying he had sources telling him that Sean McVeigh and the, well, he didn't say Sean McVeigh, but the circle close to Matt LaFleur doesn't like the way Ben Johnson had treated him.
I'm still trying to draw that circle and figure out who all is inside of it.
It's like that gif from Always Sunny where there's the whole setup. I believe it is Charlie who's got it all mapped out. And there's like post-it notes. Pins. Yeah. Lines to other people and whatnot. The tangled web we have woven.
The quickest line to draw is the one that's drawn with blood, right?
Yes. Yes. Yes.

Chapter 4: What does Alex Bregman say about his commitment to winning?
Well, oftentimes here, that proximity gets people jobs.
A little nepotism involved?
Or just the same agent sometimes. At this point, he's a kingmaker when it comes to coaches and assistants. He is as much of a kingmaker as Shanahan has been, as Shanahan's father was.
That's why the little Netbo vibes come in. But I mean, Mike McDaniel wouldn't argue with this.
It's a standard operating procedure in the NFL.
And in a lot of industries worldwide, petty or not.
Amen. So when it comes to all of that association, which is really what this is about and how strong those bonds are, which we've tried to illustrate. Sean McVay, you know, he's the type of guy who I think could fire you and you'd have a smile on your face because you're like, okay, Sean McVay, you're intelligent and interesting and I need to take this advice.
So listen to what he had to say when it came to whether or not he's been talking to Matt LaFleur, I don't know, since Sunday. Matt LaFleur, obviously, being in Green Bay, and Mike being on your staff, he's played at Johnson three times this year.
What would you guess? Now, you know what? We watch the tape. We do our work. And, you know, Matt is a very close friend of mine.

Chapter 5: How does Bregman view his role in the Cubs' lineup?
And when you have a problem, you go to Big Bro. I have a little bro and a little sis. I know how this works.
Yeah, I also have a little brother, and I have two brothers and a sister, and yeah, there's a lot of that that happens. I consider them little brother and baby brother, but he's over 30 now. Actually, he's 30, so yeah. He could be 80. It's not going to change. Your relationship with him is not going to change. I can't just call him baby brother because he's 30.
That would imply that I'm a million, which I am.
No, you're not a million. Listen... I want to know how this, what we heard at the podium yesterday, and what we are going to see on Sunday evening, how does that transfer? I want to know what that means for the game itself. Does it have meaning? Does it not have meaning? You tell me.
Well, I think that's the point. We watch the tape. We do our work. Yeah, you do. Nobody's arguing with that. Those Carolina Panthers games are a little stressful, but we understand that for sure here. And in the meantime, you have the best offense far and away in the National Football League.
Your 37-year-old quarterback is probably going to be MVP if the East Coast bias doesn't get to Drake May 1st. I will not stop saying that Matt Stafford threw for 4,707 yards because it's stupid good. It's so good, it's unbelievable. We just talked about how good Puka Nakua is, not just in yards, but in his even success against zone and against man. So then what do you do?
Come up with a whole new coverage for the guy? Then it's the fact that we discussed how many plays they run, for example. The Bears actually ran the second most plays in the NFL, but it wasn't the Rams. The Rams you had to scroll down a little bit. They were in the top 10, but it's because they have so many explosive plays. Yeah, the scoreboard speaks to exactly what he's talking about.
So if that's the case, I don't think he's asking him for any insider tips.
He, Matthew Stafford, led the league in yards per game. He led the league in touchdowns by a wide margin. The 46 touchdowns he threw are more than he's ever thrown in any season, ever. And with the weapons that he has, you understand that if Mike LaFleur is trying to, I don't know, get his get back for the family, well, he very well could do that this weekend.

Chapter 6: What leadership qualities does Alex Bregman bring to the Cubs?
And we're terrible singers.
We're terrible singers.
Nobody's going on American Idol here today. But I think, again, when it comes to motivating your team, when it comes to Ben Johnson and who he has become, a villain of sorts in the NFL, You could say Caleb Williams because you know any score isn't safe in the fourth quarter against him. He's a villain to a lot of teams. They're our guys.
But you need to understand why if every little grain of motivation matters, it might also matter to the team who's facing them.
I was about to say, if he doesn't like Matt LaFleur and by extension anyone that has flower power behind him, what do you think Ben Johnson's doing to psych himself up for this matchup? To be like, I understand where my defense is. I understand what my offense is going to have to do to win this game against the Rams.
I think that man hasn't slept in the new year is what I think.
He's got to get some sleep.
I think we're 15 days into January and he's probably gotten like a power nap.
I just love this for the Ben Johnson arc. I love where this is. And I love it for the Caleb Williams arc too. But in this moment right now, the Ben Johnson arc is just more fun to follow.

Chapter 7: How does Bregman plan to integrate with his new teammates?
Because I took it.
Did it go down again, by the way? I know we were on total watch.
It was 49 and a half.
And then, well, yesterday morning it went from originally 51 and a half all the way down to 49. Then it was 48 and a half while we were talking.
Oh, I didn't get it there.
Yeah. So it definitely is going down. I don't think that that's a good bet.
And then number two.
Perhaps the weather is indicative of that line, though.
Number two for me is the more important question for the game overall is how many points is it going to take?

Chapter 8: What are the expectations for the Cubs this season with Bregman?
You know, he went to the Bulls game last night. He was at the Blackhawks game the other day. He seems very happy to be here. His dad, Sam, posted a picture of him wearing a Cubs hat growing up when he was literallyāwell, not literally literally, but relative to how we say it, just a babyā
Oh, I was going to say, he definitely was a child in those pictures.
I mean, you know how I am. I refer to anybody basically under the age of like 30 as just a baby.
30? That's the cutoff? See, I think of like a 15-year baby. Like, what do you really... If you can't drive without someone being in the car with you, yeah, then like an adult...
But even, okay, say like your 24 year old quarterback, just a baby. He's just learning.
He's just a baby.
Yeah. It's a loving term. It's not condescending.
Well, Gertie's just a baby. You can tell him I said that.
Well, he's also talking about his cat, Dave, who is in cat terms, not just a baby. Dave is probably a middle-aged cat. I think he's like six or seven. Is he? No, he's older than that. He's like eight or nine. I don't know.
