This is Raheemi Harrison Grody on Six Seventy the Score, and it is a heavy day for many reasons, and one big one is the passing of Terry Bohrs, as we learned on Friday night. We got the word from Mitch Rosen. Terry f h hosted here on Six Seventy the Score for twenty-five years, and before that, he was a writer with the Sun Times and A titan of our sports world. And I don't think that any of us sit here at a successful score station if it's not for Terry, among others, and that's what makes this so hard. He was a part of us even when we didn't necessarily know.
I think the the word titan, like when you think of like titans of industry, is sometimes overused or loosely used. But I think it aptly describes a man who had such a transcendent career because he was one of the first to switch from print journalism to broadcast media and this radio station. And the success he had led to other people doing it. And then he just became a sort of sports soundtrack for a generation of sports. fans here in Chicago.

Hey guys. It it uh It has been a uh a very interesting few weeks in my in my life. A good friend of mine passed away a couple of weeks ago. His funeral was Friday. And finding out that Terry had passed away on Friday. Just kinda full circled it for me. My my admiration for Terry Boars um Still from listening to well, actually it's from reading his column when I was a much younger person. Um and being able to meet him and have conversations with him. Um Not going around going, Hey, I talked to Terry Boris today but 'cause some of the stuff I can't repeat that he says. But um being able to meet him And Dan McNeil. And beginning to have relationships with folks who work at the score then and now. It's because of him.
He's the linchpin for um Sports radio. I I don't think it's a big secret. I have a radio show that I do week. And it used to kinda make me mad because the one day of the week I couldn't listen to My favorite show on the score was the day I had to do my job. Um, I patterned a lot of the radio program afterward. uh he and Dan Bernstein did. Um, the way to Аналітикли approach sport. How to really Getting to the minutiae without being in the minutiae is because of Terry Bores. Mm-hmm. Being able to handle an interview. when it goes south, like that Jordan interview with. And then and then Nick. as it could possibly be done, he goes, We must have had a misconnect. That type of stuff. You don't Teach that. You just have to be able to do it.
And Um, Terry Bores was the best. It at his retirement. Broadcast. Um seeing his family there, being able to have an interaction with his family too. It's such an amazingly Brilliant, hilariously funny. Coin. cat. He was just the he was the best. And I know it's it's easy and then I'm I'm shutting up. I know it's easy to Say, don't be sad.
