welcome back in to the take the north podcast we are in week two we are approaching a first place nfc north showdown bears vikings on tap soldier field sunday afternoon great opportunity for us to visit the twin cities to get some intel on the vikings and other things from my colleague at the athletic vikings beat writer for the athletic it's alec lewis hey alex how are you doing I'm good,
Dan. It's great to see you. I'm looking forward to Sunday. Like it could probably come right now and I'd be okay with that. But no, it's awesome to be on, man. You guys have been killing it on that beat. I know some stories coming later this week I'm excited about. But no, it's been
fun. No question. And we both had sort of exhilarating week one Sundays with the way those games unfolded. A lot of points scored by both teams, very different ways. Before I get into that, because I do want to get into that. Do you have any big plans for Chicago? You obviously got a weekend early in the season where the weather is going to be cooperative. Anything going on when you get
here? So it's tough because I usually come early because I went to Mizzou and so many of my college friends live in Chicago. Understandably, that's it's kind of a pipeline. But I actually have a wedding in the early part of this weekend in an exotic location that is going to require is going to require some Sunday morning events. absolute travel shenanigans um so hopefully hopefully everything works out uh i i'm just leaving it in the hands of of uh delta airlines so um no it should be good but i will sunday night hopefully after the game get to see some buddies and uh it's i mean to have this trip this early in the year as you know dan yeah i mean it's it's a special one it's it was a bad wedding planning but not my wedding fortunately so that uh it
happens I got one recommendation for you. Private jet PJ. You figure out PJ for Sunday morning.
It's funny. Like I've got a couple of buddies, like they work somewhat. My brother actually is a consultant for the San Diego airport. I'm like, I might, you know, whatever at all costs here. I need to make sure Delta has their best pilot on it for Sunday morning, but no, it'll, it'll all work out.
Well, it sounded like your Tuesday night featured some Chicago Bears offensive viewing, and it sounded like you went to bed with some thoughts spinning through your head. So I'll just leave the floor open to you with what you observed, and then I'll get into the story that you wrote this week, which was fantastic to set up the Ben Johnson-Brian Flores matchup.
Yeah, I mean, every week, because either I'm crazy or I just love it as much as I do, like I love watching the other team's previous game on film just to orient myself. Maybe everyone does it just to orient myself with like what I'm about to see this upcoming weekend. And you see the stats and when you see the stats. Bears point number in the city. He's like, how did this happen? What was it? And I would just tell you, I went through the offensive tape first. I saved the defense. As
we all
did.
How did the Bears and Vikings each secure a win in Week 1 and what were the key takeaways?
Yeah. But I mean, as the first half is playing out and I'm watching I mean, first and foremost, like some of the personnel groupings, I'm just curious what I'm seeing. I'm obviously watching Garrett Bradbury because of the familiarity that I had covering him here. Just wanting to see how that looks.
