He was telling me those names, and then I was telling Speaks that when I was growing up, I was getting ready for church in the morning, and I'd have in the bathroom, we had a radio, and I'd have hit and run on with Rosner yelling, why six is better than seven. And Rodner, after that, became my mentor when I started writing. And so it's a full circle moment. Chris Bryant's service time, right? Yes, that's where it came from. Seven is better than six.

history man like it's super cool barry rosner was your mentor yeah so how did i not know the first i've known barry since i was 19 20 years old and i was an intern at the daily herald in college the first thing i ever covered was golf had never covered golf in my life but i had known years listening to rosner big baseball guy but also big golf guy I emailed him, and I say, Mr. Rosner, my name is Russell Dorsey. I'm an intern at the Daily Herald. I listened to you on Hit and Run for years. They had me covering golf this weekend. Never covered golf before, and I probably shouldn't even be telling you this. And he emailed me back five minutes later and said, they're sending you out there by yourself?
All right. I'll come out there and I'll cover it with you. Oh, no way. And then we went out there with you? Two days later, me and Barry are at what's called the International Crown. And it was like the women's version of the Ryder Cup. All these different countries represented. And I'm out there on a hot day in Hoffman Estates in like a sweater trying to look fancy at the nicest golf club I've ever been at. And here comes Barry with like a polo and shorts. And he's like, you have pants on. And I'm like, well, yeah, Barry, human beings tend to wear pants. And then that started our now almost decade-long relationship.
I love it. I love it. I love that he went out there with you. He went out there with me. Literally showed you the ropes. Yeah.
He just wanted to be on a golf course. That's also true.
It's amazing because that's what we all do. The first chance we get to do something is make sure we're up to snuff. And I think a lot of that is cultural, but a lot of it Kind of goes through whatever culture you have been brought up in, but you always want to dress not only the part, but go above and beyond.
