It's just me, no Megan Morant this time. We miss her dearly, but she will be back tomorrow for the WWE Now Raw Recap. Now, like I said, we've got so much that we're going to be doing on today's show. We interviewed Kevin Owens right after. His return to the WWE. Chad Gable right after his match. Chelsea Green right after her match. Baron Corbin right after his match. But before we get there, we have to talk about the main event of SummerSlam Night 2. Seth freaking Rollins versus Roman Reigns. And this, to me, is one of those matches that told a story that was a necessary story to tell.
I think... Seth Rollins, from the beginning. And Seth Rollins changed the narrative on Monday Night Raw this week. Six days ago, when Seth Rollins showed up and stopped competing for the cheers of the fans. When Seth Rollins showed up and said, yeah, I'm the villain here. I'm the a-hole here. I'm the guy. That you can't trust in this story, sure. But I need to do what I need to do. Seth Rollins took ownership of the fact that he had this thing over Roman Reigns that nobody else has. And it's not just the fact that Roman Reigns had never beaten him in a championship match. It was a psychological thing. I think what was made clear within the last week going into this match was was that Seth Rollins, more so than being the guy that Roman couldn't beat, Seth Rollins had Roman's number.
Seth Rollins had this thing over Roman that nobody else did, and that was the desire that Roman had for vengeance against Seth Rollins, for what Seth Rollins did to Roman Reigns. when Seth Rollins turned his back on the Shield, for putting that chair in the back of Roman Reigns 12 years ago. That is a thing that has literally haunted Roman Reigns from the very day that it happened up until, I would argue, tonight. The fact that it led to that rivalry between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns that occurred right after that. The fact that it led to Seth Rollins in that moment stealing moments. From Roman Reigns. Whether it be WrestleMania 31. Whether it be beyond. The fact that when Roman Reigns. As the big dog as he was once known.
Was trying to garner support from the audience. And it was Seth. That was drawing the attention. It was Seth interning on Roman Reigns. And showing that edge. That drew the attention from the fans. Away from Roman. And towards himself. To the point that at one point. Seth Rollins beat Roman Reigns. For the WWE Championships. And going into this match, there was a lot of discussion about what Roman Reigns could do, about what it would look like once we got there. And Rollins kept playing it up. Rollins showing his back to Roman Reigns on Raw was obviously intentional. It was a similar story to the one that we saw at WrestleMania 40. When Seth Rollins showed his back to Roman Reigns, Roman Reigns could not help himself.
And Seth Rollins in that moment, while he took that chair shot, he ultimately cost Roman Reigns the thing that was dearest to him, which is the WWE championship in that match at WrestleMania 40 with Cody Rhodes. And he did it again six days ago on Monday Night Raw when he turned his back to Roman Reigns, knowing what Roman not wanted to do. but felt like he had to do.
