Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
All right, let's get her going. Friday, baby. Can only mean one thing. Off the rails.
And pizza at my house.
No.
Every Friday. Decade. Pizza night. Stop it. Yeah, yeah.
Why am I hearing this for the first time?
It's, you know, no one wants to cook on Friday. It's not even about the kids. Just here's the pizza. Eat it. Go away.

Chapter 2: What are the latest updates on the Toronto Maple Leafs' GM search?
He and Jordan Stahl fight off the opening faceoff. And I'm thinking, come on, this is the Stanley Cup playoffs. Brady, you don't have to do this. You know, you don't have to fight the first shift of the Stanley Cup playoffs. And you know what? He's lucky he's not out for the series because Stahl caught him with a haymaker that would have hurt a lot of people.
And then I watch his game, the first two games in Carolina, and, I mean, he's got no speed. He's not playing with any tempo. I watched him last night, same thing. He's taken bad penalties. He's not there right now, and I have no idea why, but I'm telling you, he and Stutzel, and I happen to like Stutzel, he's playing with a big boy's body and a little boy's head the way he's playing the game.
And the Sens, like I wanted to see them win. I've been a fan of theirs all year. I mean, they're playing not to lose. They're not playing to win games. Their power play is ineffective. Their top players have looked slow in the game. And I'm disappointed. And the one guy I really questioned all year was Altmark, and he's been their best player. He's been their best player.
He's the only guy that are even even being close in these games. So, you know, Kudos to Carolina. They have played really well. Rob Brindamore is a heck of a coach, and they're coming at you. Whether it's Stan Colvin, I mean, whether it's veteran guys, whether it's, you know, Slavin on the back end that logs big minutes. I mean, these guys are playing really well.
So, I mean, they've got to play like, they've got to take a step here and play to win, not play to lose. And that's how they're playing right now.
The challenge gets that much bigger without Jake Sanderson, who's been ruled out with a concussion back on a Taylor Hall hit. I didn't like it. I thought it was suspendable. What were your thoughts?
First of all, one other point. I've never seen a team give the puck away so many times, whether it's on dump-ins that they don't retrieve or just pure giveaways. And look, compliment Carolina for being in their face and putting big-time pressure on them.
Just one more before we get to the Sanderson hit.
The hit?

Chapter 3: Why is there a lack of veteran names for the GM positions in the NHL?
Heavy resistance. And I'm also enjoying watching Zegris and Forrester and these young guys, the way they're playing and the speed they're playing with. And Velmelka, if that's how you say his name.
That's good.
I mean, really... They are playing hard. You know, they're down 3-2. You know, the Pens come back a little bit, and all of a sudden, boom, 4-2. You know, game over. So, you know, I feel for Sid. But the Flyers, I've watched them a lot the last three weeks because they were in the race head-to-head with Columbus. And I'm telling you, they have been a good team.
And I'm telling you something right now. If they had Cutter Gauthier on their team, they'd be a contender for the Stanley Cup.
The only thing I'm going to add to that, though, is Drysdale had a good year. I know he's not Cutter Gauthier. I know he's not.
100%.
What is Drysdale to you? A top three to four? He's Bo and Byram. He's a second pair guy who can help me shoot at the net sometimes.
And I agree, but Cutter Gauthier has a chance to be a super star.
Yeah, you trade Cutter Gauthier for like a number one.

Chapter 4: What are Doug MacLean's thoughts on the Philadelphia Flyers' playoff performance?
And they've got... Maybe the fastest team in the playoffs?
They're fast. They're fast. This Cooley kid is unbelievable. Gunther is playing great for them. The goaltender has been real good. They're bothering Vegas right now a lot. And, you know, I mean, Carter Hart's been good for Vegas too, though. So I really think that's... I think Edmonton and Anaheim is going to be an unbelievable finish. You've got to believe Edmonton will come through.
But I still think... It's... It's like a race track. It's a track meet right now. Hugh is behind the bench, and he's just telling them, let's go. This is a track meet. Let's just go with speed. And they're playing well. So I think Utah and Anaheim are right in these series and have a chance for upsets. I didn't pick them, but they have a chance.
Yeah, you know, the Oilers, no power play goals through a couple games. McDavid, no points. Like, they're taking away some of their best assets. I don't know that's going to hold up, but they have been so far. The Vegas thing is fascinating to me. Like, you know, they make the Marner move. They make the move for Rasmus Anderson. Like, they are geared up to go.
They get a pretty soft opponent, or at least a path through the Pacific here. Any concerns? I know you liked Hart, but...
I was a little concerned the other night. Eichel letting the guy go to the net, score a big goal. You know, he's got to be... You love what Eichel's brought to the table in both ends of the ice. But that play bothered me. So, I mean, he's got to... The big boys have got to get it going. And they have a ton of experience.
And you've got to give Kelly and George credit for the experience and for the plays they've made, the gambles they've made. But... These are, as I said last week, guys, these are great matchups, every series. And everybody rips Gary about the alignment and everything, but right now, to me, Gary's looking good with the matchups. Looking real good with the way we're seeing these matchups play out.
We can include Buffalo and Boston in that.
oh big time a hundred percent you know you and i were a hundred percent different on our eastern conference preview any uh right now where i think we're even mac any uh change your mind on anything that you thought going into the playoffs you know what you should take that as a real feather in your cap that you're well i'm bringing it up for a reason this is going to be on my resume all right you're eat hey you're you're even that's what's wrong with the leagues we

Chapter 5: How does Taylor Hall's hit on Jake Sanderson impact the playoffs?
Yeah.
And it doesn't happen.
Yeah. You know, and I think maybe one of the most misunderstood things by hockey fans out there is like going into a playoff series, these guys, they're on a big whiteboard and they say, you know, we're targeting these guys. We're taking away their strength. We are putting our best guys against them. For the star players, it gets ramped up another level. And obviously Toronto has seen that happen.
Ottawa is seeing it happen. McDavid is seeing it happen. And right now in Colorado, we actually have a clip here, which will play Jared Bednar playing They're up 3-0. Their superstars have not exactly been electric either. So you've got another coach going, it's hard. It's hard for our best guys. Why don't we do Jared Bednar, clip one from Colorado.
Yes, there's a lot, I think. And I also think it's pretty common in playoffs. You've got top guys going against top guys, highly committed on the defensive side of it, especially when you're talking about a series like this where it's a low-scoring series. And You know, any line, when you're kind of matching them up, lines can get shut down a little bit.
I think you're seeing that on both sides, so then you've just got to keep going through your roster, and if you're tying a lot of matchups, you've got to find a way to win one to make the difference, and I think, yeah, we've done that to this point in the series, and it's been tough sledding to create offense, but...
We have different guys stepping up on different nights and scoring in different situations, even if it's just one to give it to make the difference.
And that's the key is who's rallying these guys out. And how much time can you give your big boys? And then they'll eventually come through because they have to or else you don't last six weeks, eight weeks to win a Stanley Cup without lucking in. And Nick Waugh has got a couple of points, including an overtime. Come on. I mean, who had that on their bingo card?
Arturi Lekanen is the type of guy you win with, air quotes. He points per game in the regular season, 0.52 in the playoffs. He's a 0.63 in playoffs. So his points per game go up in the playoffs, and that's like a defensive shutdown sort of role. He averages 20 goals per 82 games in the regular season. He's got 28 playoff goals in 81 playoff games. Like, he scores goals more every...
