And on this show we tend to go beyond the headlines, find out what's actually going on. We've got a lot of things to cover today, of course. The latest on the Iran War, what this means for the US economy, the Fed just announcing. a twelve to nothing unanimous decision to raise uh raise interest rates at twenty five basis points and of course the markets responded in kind. What does this mean? Is this an admission really that the US dollar is in trouble and that inflation Inflation.
Natali Morris 1:22
Self-inflicted wound to the US economy. So we're gonna talk about that because this has happened, even though President Trump did not want it to happen. Uh we're also gonna talk about Europe in an energy crisis, continuing to escalate the war with Russia. Uh we're gonna talk about Ed Sheeran and the fallout around McLamore because did you know that he is taking advice from an Epstein pervert billionaire? Well, we're gonna show you that. Uh it's amazing. That anyone just takes those calls. Like Howard Lutnick doesn't call me, but I'm not interested in talking to people who have lingering questions from the Epstein files.

Why do the hosts say the US economy is still resilient despite the rate hike?

Natali Morris 1:57
But that is exactly who triggered this fallout around Ed Sheeran. Could this be the moment where in fact people realize that there is a backlash for not speaking out against the genocide right now?
Clayton Morris 2:09

Natali Morris 2:40
The Federal Reserve has in fact raised its benchmark interest rates by twenty-five basis points to a target range of three point seven five to four. This is the first increase since since two thousand twenty three. Uh here is Fed Chair Kevin Warsh talking about it. Um, and he's indicating that by all accounts, it is gonna happen again this year. Listen.
Kevin Warsh 3:00
Our decision comes at a time when the American economy appears to be strengthening. New hiring, private sector earnings, business capital investment. Each of these markers has improved in recent months and is pointing in a good direction. Credit flows have been robust, particularly for businesses. And as I said at the policy symposium in Jackson Hole, I would be hard-pressed to describe broad financial conditions as restrictive. This view was widely shared by the коміті.

How is Europe’s energy crisis unfolding and why is diesel price soaring?

Kevin Warsh 3:35
So we removed a dose of accommodation. Консир на джеополітика Ландскеп шокс анцертні. And you begin to appreciate the resilience of the US economy. Given that resilience and the potential for even greater performance, an attitude of optimism is exactly what I heard inside the FOMC these last two days. One basic sign of strength is the state of America's labor markets. The jobless l the jobless rate remains low at around four point one percent, and both job openings and weekly hours have been increasing. Unemployment claims on a four week moving average are running at levels consistent with full employment. So the labor side of the Fed's congressional remit is in good shape.
