Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

0.031 - 16.972 Manan Vora

Yeah, quite a few people churned. Essentially, the first bit of users after we got out of beta, there were quite a few people that churned out. And I think the biggest insight that we had was in that first month.

And you'll get interviews three weeks earlier from founders, thinkers, and people I find interesting. Like Eric Wan, 18 months before he took Zoom public.

We got to grow faster.

Minimum is 100% over the past several years. Or bootstrap founders like Vivek of QuestionPro. When I started the company, it was not cool to raise. Or Looker CEO Frank Behan before Google acquired his company for $2.6 billion.

We want to see a real pervasive data culture, and then the rest flows behind that.

Hello, everyone.

101.363 - 115.86 Nathan Latka

My guest today is Manon Vora. He's running a company called Avonsure. He loves solving problems. He also is a scuba diving dive master and helpful scuba instructor, amateurish photographer and awaiting freedom of time to travel. Manon, you ready to take us to the top?

115.88 - 116.761 Manan Vora

Yeah, definitely.

Chapter 2: What is Avonsure and how does it operate?

344.939 - 363.163 Manan Vora

Right. So we have a lot of these B2B review websites, Trustpilot and whatnot. So a lot of them are coming in from there. And then about a third still come in from reference. So we are still looking to start our marketing spend now. But all this while it's just been word of mouth and organic.

0

363.324 - 365.867 Nathan Latka

Can you name one of those B2B kind of referral sites?

0

366.337 - 372.245 Manan Vora

Right. So we have G2 Crowd and Trust Radies. A lot of them come from both of these sites.

0

372.265 - 375.349 Nathan Latka

And what are people searching? Like what term are you sorted under on G2 Crowd?

0

376.191 - 379.075 Manan Vora

Right. So we are under online ticketing software.

379.956 - 390.15 Nathan Latka

Okay. Online ticketing software. Interesting. And so is this, I mean, but people should not think about this like travel perk, right? People are spending money through you to do more like adventure travel.

390.755 - 392.277 Manan Vora

Yeah, yeah.

392.297 - 397.482 Nathan Latka

But businesses, so like if a sales team wants to go on a retreat in Mexico, they'll book through you?

398.864 - 408.635 Manan Vora

No, so they book through the operators. It's just that we get the operators all the tools that they need to get that customer and essentially close that transaction online.

Chapter 3: How does Avonsure generate revenue from its services?

449.123 - 473.929 Nathan Latka

I use HostGator.com to keep the thing cranking along. They've got a 45-day money-back guarantee, which is great. I used their free website builder to get this site up because it's ideal for WordPress. It's just what I use. They've got 4,500 templates and a free e-commerce plugin as well. And 24 seven support, which we love, right? We love that. I bug the hell out of them.

0

473.969 - 496.644 Nathan Latka

They always get back to me. So I've got you 30% off along with $100 in free AdWords credit. To grab it, just go to HostGator.com forward slash Nathan. But you got to do it now. Again, HostGator.com forward slash Nathan. In terms of how you're, I mean, how are you guys paying yourselves? Obviously, five people. It's not enough. Three grand is not enough to pay five people.

0

497.405 - 523.598 Manan Vora

Right. So we have, we've started along with Adventure. We also have an agency called Ekahal. Now that essentially is a very big revenue stream for us because we take on one-time clients and we just do some tech work for them, which kind of fuels adventure. Like you said, revenue is still growing and it'll be a while before we can sustain ourselves through the product.

0

523.915 - 529.458 Manan Vora

So till that time, we hope to take the agency model and generate revenue for ourselves.

0

529.679 - 534.398 Nathan Latka

So if we look at Echo Hall, which is your agency name, what did that do in total revenue last year?

535.255 - 548.456 Manan Vora

Right. So again, that started in May of last year. And I think about for the entire year, we've done $400,000. Yeah. So that's kind of because I'm translating it off the top of my head.

549.017 - 551.761 Nathan Latka

Yeah. But that's subsidizing everything else, basically.

551.821 - 553.143 Manan Vora

Yeah. Yeah.

553.163 - 556.909 Nathan Latka

Very good. All right. Now, do you have any insight into churn yet? Anyone churned?
