EP 420: $70k 2015, $100k 2016 Infoproduct for Writers with Jordan Hayles
17 Sep 2016
Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is The Top, where I interview entrepreneurs who are number one or number two in their industry in terms of revenue or customer base. You'll learn how much revenue they're making, what their marketing funnel looks like, and how many customers they have. I'm now at $20,000 per talk. Five and six million. He is hell-bent on global domination. We just broke our 100,000-unit soul mark.
And I'm your host, Nathan Latka. Okay, Top Tribe, this week's winner of the 100 bucks is Jose Avila. He is a 17-year-old that doesn't want to go to college and he wants to start his own business. For your chance to win 100 bucks just like Jose every Monday morning, simply subscribe to this podcast on iTunes right now and then text the word Nathan to 33444 to prove that you did it.
Okay, many of you heard I made a big league acquisition of a company called SendLater. And I'm a greedy business guy. I didn't want to give away equity to a technical co-founder. So I found my coders on a website called TopTal at NathanLatka.com forward slash T-O-P-T-A-L.
I paid over $12,000 to the site to a guy named He Sheming in China, who I've never met, but we're going to build a big business together. I'm taking SendLater public by the time I turn 30. I'll tell you more about TopTal later on in this episode. Top Tribe, this is episode 420. Coming up tomorrow morning, you're going to learn from Levi Morehouse.
He has a SaaS accounting company that's doing $238,000 in monthly recurring revenue. He's raised $4.2 million with over 200 customers.

Chapter 2: How did Jordan Hayles transition from writer to entrepreneur?
Um, 2015, this project did not exist, but I have done work on my own. So it would vary. Um, for 2015, I did, uh, between 70 to 80 K. And this is like consulting work you're doing. Yes.
Okay. Got it. So the price point on this new product, sorry, what did you say that the cheaper price was the lower end?
It is $325 for now. That's actually going to go up soon.
So for people who are up on it. And what was a total, how many people have bought it at that price?
I don't know how many people have bought it. Jordan, come on. This is my number one pet peeve.
You have to know your numbers.
It's a mix. It's a mix between the higher priced offerings and the lower price. Okay.
Well, give me the total unique customer number. How many people have given you their credit card? Doesn't matter what paid plan.
Um, we have had in total 15 folks give us credit card numbers.

Chapter 3: What is the 14-day writing challenge and how does it work?
All right, makes good sense. Okay, so this is the 14-day writing challenge. Are you making revenue? So this year, it sounds like your goal is to hit the 100,000 mark. You keep using the term we. Do you have partners?
Yes. My name is Jordan and I'm the co-founder and my partner's name is Tanisha.
Okay. So do you split the, if you hit 100K, do you split it 50-50?
Well, we're actually going to split it 30-30-30. Well, not 30-30-30, but dividing it to three. Because we have a third to go back to the business and then we each will split the rest.
And who pays for expenses, business expenses?
We split that.
Okay, got it. So you pay all the expenses in the, so let's say you do 100K this year. What will your total expenses be?
Pretty minimal. Right now we have just hosting for website. That's very minimal. If you include our phone bills because we're on the phone all the time, that's minimal.
Who do you use for hosting? You use HostGator?
