12 Jun 2016
Chapter 1: How did Michael Mogill start Crisp Video and achieve success?
This is The Top, where I interview entrepreneurs who are number one or number two in their industry in terms of revenue or customer base. You'll learn how much revenue they're making, what their marketing funnel looks like, and how many customers they have.
Chapter 2: What marketing strategies helped small businesses double their revenue?

Top Tribe, you're listening to episode 281, but come in and tune in tomorrow morning. We have Suburama joining us. He was shy. Well, frankly, I was shocked that he wouldn't accept my $10 million offer after raising $1 million this past year. I gave him a great offer. Okay, Top Tribe, good morning, good morning, good morning.
I hope you are on your way to work, enjoying your commute or sweating on your morning jog already. You're really going to enjoy our guest today. Her name is Lisa Song Sutton, and she is, I tell you what, super, super talented. She does a lot of writing, okay? She was Miss Nevada US in 2014. Most importantly, she's an entrepreneur. She's a real estate investor and entrepreneur.
and are holding ownership interests in several companies in the real estate tech, retail, and food and beverage industries, including Las Vegas' number one alcohol-infused cupcake company, Sin City Cupcakes. She currently writes about entrepreneurship and business, and her work has been featured in Forbes, Inc. Magazine, Fast Company, and many other publications.
She hosts a business-driven cable television show called Live with Lisa through Cox Communications, and her latest endeavor is the tech company BrandBridge.org. It's the only app company that gives 100% of the profits to entities that foster entrepreneurship.
In addition to her professional careers, Lisa is actively involved in her community as a former Miss Nevada 2014, serves on the advisory board of the Las Vegas Children's Foundation, and has volunteered for numerous charitable causes around the Silver State. Lisa, are you ready to take us to the top?
Hi, good morning. Good morning. Thank you so much for having me.
Of course. Thank you for coming on. So you first off, you are doing so, so, so much. Did all this entrepreneur stuff just just take off after you won Miss Nevada and people are going, we got to partner with this girl. She's a killer. She's going to win big.

Chapter 3: How did winning Miss Nevada influence Lisa Song Sutton's entrepreneurial journey?
What is there any, like when it comes to building something successful, especially where you're, again, you're selling and you're building an agency like Sutton and Chase, what does it really come down to? Is it, you know, is it winning the listings? Is it maximizing the exit price? Is it just getting velocity of deal flow higher? What's the secret sauce?
Definitely volume, but certainly having great repeat clientele. So we have a lot of clientele that, you know, perhaps they've purchased a very large multimillion dollar home as their primary residence, but then they also own condos that are used for investments and also for short term vacation rentals.
And then they may have family or friends that are looking to invest in Las Vegas, but don't want a primary residence here. So it's a lot of our business. I would say over 90 percent of our business is all just based on referrals. We don't do any advertising. We don't pull out like the big splashy ads and like Rob report or anything like that, because luckily we don't have to at this time.
And is it just you and your partner or their other agents?
It's myself and my partner. And then we do have people that work under us as real estate assistants and staff. And then with our partnership through Sotheby's International Realty, we of course have this amazing outreach and network, this really vast network of fantastic agents.
Okay. So how do you pull, again, just to go over the numbers real quick in Sutton and Chase's business, over the last 11 months, you've moved $7 million worth of properties. Taking 6% means that the business makes about half a million bucks or about 550 grand. How do you guys pull money out of the business? Do you just pay yourselves a salary or what?
So Devon's paid a salary. Um, I take draws when needed, but luckily for me, I don't have to rely on the real estate to pay my bills. So, um, Sin City Cupcakes, um, I would say would be the second highest performing out of the businesses right now. Um, and, um,
yeah luckily i don't i don't have to pull money out of elite homes yeah let's talk about that so let's talk about uh let's talk about sin city cupcakes so you founded this you said before uh obviously went on to win miss nevada 2014. what does uh why'd you get into it i mean did you just love baking
No, actually totally the opposite. So I went to law school. I don't have a culinary or pastry background. And my partner was Sensitive Cupcakes. Her name is Danielle Cole. She and I met in the modeling industry like 10 years ago in Florida. So I modeled all during college and law school. And that's how she and I met. we became great friends.
