So, Kerrison Price, for June 24th, 2026, a presentation of Bet365. Download the app today. Must be 19+. Please play responsibly. I'm Blake Price. Alongside me, the one and only Jeff Patterson will be riding shotgun over the next couple of days. And, yes, we do still have the world log rolling champ, Mike Rogerson. hitting buttons and conducting things in the back room. Alas, this show has a slightly different tone than we might have hoped it would have had at the beginning of the day as Canada falls 2-1 to Switzerland at BC Place. If there was a different result, we were looking forward to what might be happening just on the other side of that wall right there. Would have been crazy.
Yeah, look, you've got the hat, I'm wearing the shirt. We still wear them proudly. Yes. Story's not over here. No. McMahon Opportunity knocking for this Canadian side 45 minutes from hosting a game in the knockout stage. It was there for them, and then they fell asleep, really, for two quick spells early in the second half. Yeah. Credit to the guys, though. No quit, obviously. Chipped away, got one, and... had their chances. There were opportunities there to get this back to level. Alas, it didn't happen for them. But in totality now, as they pack their bags and have to move on from Vancouver, two wildly entertaining games for Canada at BC Place and Vancouver. You've done well. Another full house, the pre-game festivities.
Certainly they had a country on their side and Again, the story's not done yet, but what might have been had they been able to eke out even a draw in this one.
Will Canada make it to the round of 16 at the World Cup? They now have some adversity. It's our soccer poll question. We'll get to our hockey poll question coming up in just a second, but our soccer poll question is that. And now it means that Canada... Has just a few days of rest. We chronicled this. It was such a big deal to stay at home, not only because you get your fans yelling and screaming on your behalf, but it would have meant a July 2nd date. You lose three days of rest. That is huge for Canada, yes or no, as they head down to little Korea in Los Angeles and have to take, most likely, against South Korea.
How did Canada lose 2-1 to Switzerland at BC Place and what were the turning points?
We'll chronicle that throughout the course of the day here as well. But the path potentially got more difficult in light of that. Now, there is still a world in which Belgium comes to face Switzerland here. Right. I think it's probably going to be Egypt.
Right.
or even Iran. But if it's Belgium, I mean, I don't know, maybe that's not so bad for Canada.
Right, and that's the other important thing to remember. There are still games to be played here in Vancouver. It's just not that Canada will be a part. Hopefully you like Switzerland. They're sticking around. I don't think we like Switzerland. Generally, who doesn't like Switzerland? But today, we'll put that aside. The Swiss. What an afternoon for Derek Cornelius because he was involved in so many things that went on in this game. Remember the save that he made after Max Kropot made the incredible stop early in the game. Ten minutes in, Kropot makes his biggest and best save early, keeps it scoreless, and then on the rebound, Cornelius is able to block the second chance there, but... At 1-0, ball gets over him, and then he seemed to just kind of get lost after that.
Him and, if usual, both of them.
Yeah, and we talked about Krupo making the huge save early. Turns out to be the game-winner he needed. He got a piece of it, but he had to make that stop. But then... Off the set piece, once they had scored, make it 2-1, and it was Cornelius, got a piece of the header, just knocked it wide. There was another chance right around the 90-minute mark. He and Promise David both went up for a header. Couldn't get their head on that one. So, yeah, I mean, Derek Cornelius making things happen both ends of the park. Unfortunately for him, yeah, a bit of a tough minute there in what turned out to be the winning goal.
You saw the poll question. It is our top story as well as Canada falls 2-1 to Switzerland at the World Cup at BC Place in Vancouver.
