Well, listen, there are business issues.

And sure, you can talk all you want about radio and the change in technology and all that.

The fundamental truth is beyond that.

as our pal Justin McElroy pointed out, that when he and I started in this business, he and I basically tracked together 14 years ago.

If you look at Vancouver, we had the separate Sun and Province newsrooms.

We had 1040.

We had News 1130.

We didn't have Sports 6, 650, but we had Global and CKNW being separate.

We had the Georgia Straight.

We had the Vancouver Courier.

I mean, I know the Georgia Straight still exists in some form, but we had all these things.

We had Metro.

We had 24 Hours.

We had a whole slew

Of information sources.

And again, technology has changed and people get their stuff in different ways now versus then.

But the overall truth is that those were all people who were professionals, who had sort of a code of ethics, who had a process on what we need to know and what we deserve to know and what the politicians and the corporate leaders and all that don't want you to know.

Right.

And fundamentally, that made our society better and better educated and better informed.

And now we're in a world where not only does Facebook not want to have a share news links at all, but Google's making it very hard to get news punching through, even though, you know, fairness, Google is paying into the digital innovation fund and is in theory paying for jobs.
