I'm fascinated to see what the Blues do. Fascinated to see what San Jose does. Like, there are chips in play. Like, will they pick or will they trade? And, of course, everyone wants to know what the Canucks are going to do. And at a certain level, you commend them for standing pat and not doing something too crazy. But also, we know they need to do something.

Like that was the clear evidence in their – puttering out is that the word they puttered out as the season went along right like they didn't have enough petered out petered out petered out their their engines you know and and they didn't have enough defensemen and you know that i think in the end they inevitably everybody needs more forwards i mean i made this joke last week when we were still talking about the ottawa senators oh shocker they want a top six swinger and a top four defenseman like everybody wants that But, like, that's the Sharks, right?
Like, the Sharks definitely need that. And so what they do with nine, what they do with two. Like, my first reaction was, like, go deal them both. Go get that high-end and sink. Go get Zach Wierenski. Someone said to me, I was talking to some people around the league, and someone said, man, if I'm the Sharks, I'm going to try to make that happen. I don't know if that happens. but I'm trying to make that happen because that's the kind of guy they need. Forget Philip Ronan. Get Zach Rensk. Get the Norris trophy.
Go all in. My initial reaction to that Sharks trade yesterday was another reminder that You can set out a path for a rebuild, but it's a fluid path. And at one point, Willie Macklin was the seventh overall pick. The guy's had back-to-back 50-point seasons before the age of 24. You would think that he'd be a big part of what the Sharks are trying to put together, but they saw an opportunity. And now they're probably going to get Ivor Stenberg, who comes in, will likely give them not all. He may not get to 50 points as a rookie, but he's six years younger. He's cheaper, obviously. And... They get draft capital to also bolster their blue line on the back end.
It's a little bit of the Colorado thing, right? Like they had McKinnon, they had these, you know, they had Lannis Cog, they had Matt Duchesne. And they said, well, forget Matt Duchesne, we're moving somewhere. And like, they just pivoted younger.
