Transcription

Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?

0.031 - 4.118 Gary Lyon

Breakfast with Gary and Tim. It's alright.

0

12.907 - 35.131 Zach Guthrie

Good morning, everyone. Great to have you with us. It's Wednesday, May the 6th, and we are on location. Oh, we're excited when we go out on location. You should see Tim. He's beside himself. We're at Chadston Toyota, 1547 Dandenong Road, Oakley. Drop in and see us. This is the most magnificent showroom you've ever seen. And some of the vehicles in here. Tim's been tyre-kicking.

0

35.171 - 52.032 Zach Guthrie

He's been circling around the magnificent Toyota Hilux. Well, we've got a big show at the McCafe menu. Try Macca's drinks range. Tommy Lynch is going to drop in. The big forward from the Tigers on the back of their first win for the year. Andrew Russell for Wellness Wednesday. Zach Guthrie from the Cats. Got our top ten players for April.

0

52.793 - 55.717 Zach Guthrie

The footy news and the big discussions out of seven o'clock as well.

0

Chapter 2: What location are Gary and Tim broadcasting from?

55.737 - 74.424 Zach Guthrie

But right now we're rambling. Chaston Toyota style with a wisp. Good morning, Gary. Good morning, everybody. Great to be here, Gary. Very close to me. Move over. I'm as far away as I possibly can be. We're in a very nice compact set up here, but normally you're across the table from me, but right here now you're right next to me. Is it uncomfortable for you? Very uncomfortable.

0

74.444 - 81.774 Zach Guthrie

Have you got a new pair of micro cords on, have you, this morning too? No. Hang on, where did you get those from? I haven't heard about this.

0

82.095 - 82.675 Unknown

No, no.

0

82.695 - 91.871 Zach Guthrie

What the dickens is going on? I've got these up at... Where? In Byron Bay, you know, that shop you like going to, where I got the humans from. It doesn't look like great quality.

0

Chapter 3: Who are the special guests joining the show?

91.991 - 107.959 Zach Guthrie

Oh, that's still, oh, you would have paid plenty for that. It's primo quality, my friend. They've got a little bit of stretch in them, too. Oh, yeah, no, they're very comfy. You love a bit of stretch, don't you? It's a lot of pressure. Stretch out there. We're creatures of habit, you and I, so when we get called out for something like that. There's some anxiety. There is.

0

108.259 - 128.189 Zach Guthrie

We've got to find out where we've got to go, where we've got to park, where the coffee machine's on. Well, we've got the coffee. Everything's good. We're here 12 months ago, so I knew exactly where I had to go. Got up very early in Shoreham. Apparently, when I left, Brando thought that I'd gone for the day and left him and I wouldn't be back again, so he started howling at 5 to 4 this morning.

0

129.13 - 145.742 Zach Guthrie

He's howling at the moon. Poor old fellow he is. He gets separation anxiety, he does. Are you looking at a little car here at Chadston Toyota? Because when the salesman comes in, they'll be looking at you. It's got big, deep pockets. Plenty of cash on offer. I can't see anyone from sales here at the moment.

0

145.762 - 146.463 Unknown

What, six o'clock?

0

146.503 - 170.716 Zach Guthrie

No, they do dress very differently, the people from sales. They don't start at six. They're wandering here at some stage, and you've got your eye on a RAV4 over there, I see. No, it wasn't the RAV4. It was the Hilux. It's the Prado or Prada? Prado. Prado. Land Cruiser Prado. Oh, they're a nice vehicle. It is indeed. They are a very, very nice vehicle. 0-4-3-3-9-9-11-16-1-3-100-7-3-6-7-3-6.

171.116 - 195.208 Zach Guthrie

You know how it works. This is the Ramble for Cobham Estate. Clear the messages there, please. Fat fingers back in the studio, and away we go, because we like to see the... 1,000 to 1,200 that come through. Oh, look at them come. Look at them come. Speaking of Cobham Estate, what's Brent up to? He had all the influencers up there at Cobham Estate, I see. Who? Like the Nadia Bartel style posse.

195.829 - 215.122 Zach Guthrie

Oh, he flew them up yesterday, did he? Well, I'm assuming he did, yeah. Is there something going on that we don't know about? I don't know. He listens, as he always does. I'm not sure if he's in the country or not, but... Doesn't matter. He'd be listening if he's over in the States as well. He listens wherever he goes. He's doing some promotional work. And, yeah, so good on he. Yeah.

215.303 - 238.769 Zach Guthrie

Well, they're big. They're getting bigger and bigger. I'll tell you what. It is almost that time of the year. I like to call it the double tea time. The toasty territory. We're almost heading into toasty territory. Well, that's true. I had the pulled shoulder leftover pork on the toasted sandwich yesterday. With the caramelised fennel and the pear from the weekend.

238.869 - 256.666 Zach Guthrie

Seeded mustard on a sourdough mouldy grain with a bit of Cobram estate olive oil. It was tickety-boo. You made it yourself. Well, Susie made it, actually, because Cocky and I are out the back doing the renovation on the hen house. We've turned the hen house into a nice little wool shed mouldy purpose shed. That type of arrangement. That's because you're a rooster.

Chapter 4: What personal anecdotes do Gary and Tim share?

257.067 - 278.264 Zach Guthrie

That's why. Yeah, toasty sandwich. Send through your preferred toasty. 0433 981116. Because the best day of the year is coming up on tomorrow, in actual fact. What's that day? 14 degrees with 15 mil of rain. Tomorrow? Yeah. Yeah, no, there's a bit of rain about. Some nice chill in the air there. Are you prepared to call it yet or not? No, no, I've called it.

0

278.304 - 278.865 Unknown

The seasonal change?

0

278.885 - 299.498 Zach Guthrie

No, I've called it. It's all done? When it cools down overnight, the weather's changed. So it's been beautiful weather, but it's been cooling down, but some fresh stuff's coming, which will be magnificent. You know what we need to get? What? You and I. What? We need to get ourselves a nice nail gun. A nice, a nice... What do you mean? Well, Cocky Turner, he's got the six-shooter nail gun, and...

0

299.478 - 321.092 Zach Guthrie

Yep. He's got one in each pocket. Really? Has he really? Yeah, he wears it on his hip. He's got two. No, well, he turned up with the one yesterday, but it's multi... There's not a thing you can't do... I wouldn't trust you. ...pretty much with a nail cap. I wouldn't trust you with a nail cap. I need to call him every time it needs to be reloaded, though. I haven't actually worked that part out.

0

321.132 - 343.052 Zach Guthrie

But, gee, you can get some work done. And the more nails we put in, the tighter the whole building became. That's the beauty of it, Gary. Magnificent. And this is the thing about, you know where people keep, you know, you think, oh, that's all junk. Eventually you get to it. Because I've taken, I had wood that I bought from the Hayfield timber mill, probably about

343.032 - 363.133 Zach Guthrie

five, maybe six, eight years ago. I was going to leave it there when we left the property. I thought, no, I'll bring it with me. It'll be a nice little come in handy. Well, the last stick of it was used on the hen house yesterday for the cladding on the outside. Rough sawn hardwood. I'm taking credit for that hen house thing. Was that your idea? Yeah.

363.254 - 383.422 Zach Guthrie

When I came there last week, I said, cut that thing down. You've got beautiful exposure. That's exactly what we did. And you did. I thought that was my idea. No, I told you. I planned the seat. Oh, some nice toasted sandwiches coming through here. Jaffa or toasty Vegemite cheese and avocado? No, Don. You don't put that in, do you? You don't put avocado in a toasted cheese and Vegemite.

383.462 - 404.112 Zach Guthrie

Oh, yeah, you do. Do you? Yeah, no. I like an avocado. I'll tell you what's nice is... A schmear of crunchy peanut butter as the base. Yeah. And then a little bit of drizzle of olive oil. Then the avocado. Then a little bit of cheese. And then toast all that together. That is magnificent. What's the name of the cool shop in Byron? I'm formerly in Berwick. I'm in Broadbeach.

404.132 - 412.665 Zach Guthrie

I'll go for a drive and check it out. Don't you worry about that. I'll find out. It's... No, it was in the town next to Byron, wasn't it? No, they've got two. There's one in Byron.

Chapter 5: What are the key challenges Fremantle needs to prove this season?

3333.838 - 3348.888 Zach Guthrie

You blokes never win in the wet. And they go and win in the wet. And then they just move on to the next thing. Oh, you haven't beaten anyone of any substance. Then they beat, you know. I think that's the, and I think what he's saying is, hey, we'll just go and play and you can work out whether we've proved anything. The proving for them will come in September.

0

3349.008 - 3363.272 Zach Guthrie

That's the only time they need to prove themselves. If we think they're going to continue to be as good as I think they will be, they'll get their chance to prove whether they can win it. That's what they've got to prove. But we all think in the lead up to this game that this is a great test for Fremantle. Do we not?

0

3363.252 - 3378.401 Zach Guthrie

Hawthorne are a great test for every team because of the way they're coached and the way that they play and the way that they can go after teams in certain areas. They got... Collingwood went after them in certain areas last week.

0

Chapter 6: How do the Dockers compare to Hawthorne in terms of competition?

3378.421 - 3395.47 Zach Guthrie

So the mindset will shift a bit as a bit. Collingwood chased down Hawthorne. You know, they were the favourites and the Magpies came up with a style of footy that was really good. And I get a bit of a feeling that the Hawks will go over there with that mentality against the Dockers. You know, we've got to take away their centre-bound stuff. We've got to find a way for... So...

0

3395.45 - 3416.376 Zach Guthrie

Probably their forward line plays into the hands more of the way that Hawthorne like to defend. You know, last week Collingwood took away Barris and battled and Sicily to a degree. Whereas Tracy, Amos and Voss are perfect matchups for all of them, aren't they? Are they missing anything? If you look at Fremantle, are they wanting anything?

0

3417.136 - 3438.1 Zach Guthrie

Is there a part of their game that they need to improve dramatically or 5%, 10% in the rest of this season to prove anything? The question over them still is how they move the footy and how effective they are from one end to the other. But if you're talking personnel, they're pretty much stacked, aren't they? They're stacked everywhere.

0

Chapter 7: What improvements does Fremantle need to make for success?

3438.32 - 3454.816 Zach Guthrie

They appear, yeah. I wrote this last year. You ask all the questions about him and say, have you got a key defender to play on the monster foot? Yep, got Alex Pearce. Have you got run and carry off? Yeah, got Jordan Clark who runs and carries. Have you got midfield depth? Well, we have now because Bolton goes through and Murphy Reid goes through.

0

3454.836 - 3467.307 Zach Guthrie

We've got the best, you know, one of the best ruckmen, righto. Have you got big power forwards? We've got three of them. Have you got small pressure forwards? Yeah, we've got Switzkowski. So they do tick all the boxes. So if you want to get down into the weeds, it's...

0

3467.287 - 3479.625 Zach Guthrie

It's about, you know, they've got better at it, but it was always a bit conservative from the back half and, you know, wouldn't take the direct line and wouldn't be aggressive. But they've got better at that. Are they physical enough? Have they got that component?

0

3479.945 - 3498.172 Zach Guthrie

Yeah, I think the wins against Collingwood in the wet, where they had to kick the last two goals of the game, and then Adelaide in the wet, where they had to kick the last two goals. I think all those things speak to their mental resilience and strength. So, no, I'm really bullish on the Dockers, but, you know, but... We need to see it in September.

0

3498.192 - 3511.389 Zach Guthrie

Yeah, so they still need to prove... They still do need to prove something to us all, but maybe they can't do that until the last month of the season. The other thing about them is... And, you know, Simo talks about this all the time, about being able to play in different modes.

3511.409 - 3536.343 Zach Guthrie

Like, OK, they want to play a certain way, but if that gets shut down and they need to play in a different style, are they capable, are they mature enough... And I think that's still a question mark against them as them being able to mature and be that team that's capable of just being able to switch and everyone being on the same page when the game goes against them in a certain way.

3536.423 - 3554.831 Zach Guthrie

Yeah, well, what I would suggest that, I think that's fair, but I would suggest that, and this is probably why he goes, well... We're two goals down from Collingwood. We didn't have it anywhere near our own way and it was wet conditions and we found a way. We needed to kick two goals against Adelaide and we didn't have it our own way, the way that we like to play.

3555.372 - 3572.438 Zach Guthrie

The Western Bulldogs took away a lot of their strength last Friday night, unexpectedly to a large degree, and they had to find a way. So I think from that point of view, they should have some confidence. They're not the finished product because they're not Brisbane and they haven't... They haven't proved it back year after year.

3572.458 - 3591.969 Zach Guthrie

But when you look at the cattle, Bolton and Reid and Hayden Young, that's the other one. Well, there's three names there that they didn't really have as elevated midfield types. Yeah. So it was always about Brayshaw. It was always about Sorong.

Chapter 8: How does Zach Guthrie reflect on his journey and the team's performance?

3591.989 - 3614.088 Zach Guthrie

Brayshaw has had to modify the way he plays. So in some ways, he's become probably a more rounded, complete player. Like Trent Cotchen. Trent Cotchen had that transformation from an accumulator to a great leader on field, capable of being able to go and play a different role. I might pilfer that. No, don't. That's a great example because that's the other thing.

0

3614.108 - 3634.395 Zach Guthrie

So, Sorong's won the last three best or Sorong and Brayshaw won the last four, you know, which is great. But if one of them wins it again, they probably don't win it. That's the way I see it. But if Luke Jackson wins his first best and fairest or if Murphy Reid wins his first best and fairest, you go, wow. And don't worry. I know Caleb reasonably well and Andrew Reid.

0

3634.555 - 3653.467 Zach Guthrie

Their mindset would be the same. Two first, though. Come up. Someone else come up. We've had individual success. We all like to win best and fairest and all that and be all Australia. That's cool. But for them right now, it's no, no. We want a medal. So if that means we've got to play a different role, we will. I think that's an evolution of that football club as well.

0

3653.547 - 3676.708 Zach Guthrie

So they're in the hitting zone. I think they're in the sweet spot. But they'll get challenged, won't they, from the Hawks on Thursday. So that'll be a really good watch as round eight or round nine, round nine gets underway. I had some clarity from Garrity. Maybe I can squeeze it in between the 7.30 news and then when Andrew... Is it sharp? I'll give it a little sharpie one.

0

3676.688 - 3694.049 Zach Guthrie

Is there any bacon and egg sandwiches here? I can't smell a thing. I cannot smell a thing. I am told they're here. We're at Chadston Toyota. Come down and see us. Come in and say g'day. I'm told there's bacon and eggs. There's a coffee cart, which has been magnificent, and there's some great Toyota vehicles to look at on the showroom floor.

3694.149 - 3699.135 Zach Guthrie

Toyota are supporting local communities through Good For Footy. So, yeah, wander down. Say g'day.

3700.837 - 3712.618 Unknown

When you need clarity... That's alarm bells ringing everywhere for me. ..there's only one man to go to. Who do you think you're impressing? This is Clarity from Garrity.

3713.279 - 3717.303 Zach Guthrie

You want to deliver now? I thought we were just in a low key.

3717.343 - 3717.944 Gary Lyon

I'm not doing it now.
