Chapter 1: What was Bournemouth's historic achievement at St Mary's?

7.034 - 29.694 Kelly Cates

Bournemouth have won at St Mary's for the first time. A well-worked set piece. Another one for Bournemouth. Nathan Aki on the end of it to make it 1-0. And then Harry Wilson with the second for Bournemouth. It got tense for them then after Southampton pulled one back. But then Callum Wilson was on hand to capitalise on a goalkeeping error and make it 3-1 on the night.

Chapter 2: How did Bournemouth secure their victory against Southampton?

33.057 - 37.041 Kelly Cates

Alongside me, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher. A well-deserved win, do you think?

0

37.257 - 60.396 Gary Neville

I think so overall, they were clinical in the first half, Bournemouth, Southampton weren't in the second half, they had far better the half, and you said in commentary you thought Bournemouth needed a third goal, we were watching it up there thinking Southampton would get one back here, but at the end they got the third goal, maybe a little bit too late for Eddie Howe's liking, he wanted a bit more comfort, but Southampton just weren't quite right, they went close in the second half a number of times, but weren't ruthless enough.

60.528 - 63.113 Kelly Cates

What was the difference, do you think, Jamie, between the two sides?

0

63.634 - 80.95 Jamie Carragher

I think watching the game and also when you see the team, it always feels like there's a lot more quality in the Bournemouth team. You think of Callum Wilson at the top end, Harry Wilson also. They bring in Ryan Fraser, who was probably the top player for Bournemouth last season. But the half chances that they had, I think...

81.892 - 83.154 Kelly Cates

Nice to see you.

Chapter 3: What were the critical moments in the match that led to Bournemouth's win?

83.194 - 95.892 Kelly Cates

We're going to interrupt Gary because Callum Wilson and Josh King have come to join us and we'd much rather be able to hear from them. A really important three points, up to third in the table. First win here at St Mary's. How hard was it and how much did you enjoy it at the end?

0

96.253 - 107.95 Callum Wilson

Yeah, it was a difficult game. Second half, we were terrible on the ball. We couldn't keep it and couldn't get out of half. And I think we're quite good at counter-attacks and I guess at the end, you know, it's a gift. And thankfully we got the win, which is the most important thing.

0

108.47 - 115.841 Gary Neville

In terms of how you prepared for today, the set-piece first goal, was that critical? Have you been working on that during the week? Because the coaching staff looked delighted on the bench.

0

116.401 - 127.858 Callum Wilson

Well, last game, they zoned all marks as well, and we knew that it was similar today. So we're just kind of doing what we've done against Everton, really. We got success from that, and we've got it again today. So, yeah, credit to those guys.

0

128.619 - 133.206 Jamie Carragher

Callum, I mean, the scenes at the end, it feels like more than just a Premier League victory.

Chapter 4: What did Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher think about Bournemouth's performance?

133.226 - 137.813 Jamie Carragher

It feels like something special. Now, Southampton are saying their big derby game is midweek.

0

138.073 - 138.173 Callum Wilson

Yeah.

0

138.794 - 142.778 Jamie Carragher

Does this show the feeling of the supporters that this is a derby game for Bournemouth, really?

0

143.239 - 154.751 Callum Wilson

Well, I guess Southampton's the closest Premier League team to us. You know, we've never won here as a football club. So, obviously, as you can see, they're still hanging around, still singing, and obviously they're delighted with the win today.

0

155.232 - 164.582 Kelly Cates

Josh, huge celebrations, as Jamie's mentioned, from over in the corner from the Bournemouth supporters. And you were nearly celebrating yourself with that chance as well. Did you think you were onside?

165.355 - 184.41 Josh King

I had a feeling I was offside, to be honest. I thought I was going to get the ball a split second before I did. And I think it affected my game a bit towards the end as well. Because obviously I've never scored a goal and I've been disallowed with VAR. But I learned from that and keep going to the next game. So you didn't mistime your run, you're blaming the pass? No comment.

186.027 - 195.498 Jamie Carragher

How do you find him playing wide left? I mean, I watched you last week. You were really good last week. I thought you were excellent against an eight-man of the match. Are you enjoying that? Or does he look like he wants to play centre-forward?

195.518 - 208.493 Josh King

Yeah, obviously, I'm a centre-forward, but I'm a team player. I grew up in United and playing 4-3-3 in the resis. And in Blackburn, I played out wide as well. And then coming here, I've had a few seasons up front and a few seasons in the ten.

Chapter 5: What were the main differences between Bournemouth and Southampton's play?

209.374 - 214.92 Josh King

And obviously, when the manager asks me to play out wide, I do a job, anything for the team, and just try and help the team. But it is harder.

0

215.457 - 222.648 Kelly Cates

Callum, you mentioned that yours was a gift in some ways, your goal. You've still got to be composed enough to take them when they fall to you.

0

223.331 - 237.373 Callum Wilson

Yeah, you know, obviously, The ball's gone to the centre-back and the goalkeeper, and obviously I was delighted that they got in a mess, and then you don't realise how much time you've actually got, so I just tended to sort of, yeah, go as close as I can, put it in and make sure I don't miss.

0

237.393 - 248.468 Jamie Carragher

You know when you see the goalkeeper coming out, are you actually thinking, I'm just staying out of the way of this, and actually, do you remember you come to the side of them, let them bump into each other and not actually get involved in a collision when you see the goalkeeper coming?

0

248.448 - 264.518 Callum Wilson

Yeah, because sometimes as a striker, you can tend to sort of give the centre-back a nudge to try and make them clash into each other. Like you see there, I just sort of stayed out of the way and it's dropped into my path, thankfully. And yeah, I celebrate with the fans and Kingi was there waiting, still didn't get round to the bench.

264.538 - 268.245 Gary Neville

That front four you've got, do you feel like you can go and score goals and beat any team?

268.715 - 286.199 Josh King

Yeah, I think our front four is dangerous for any defence. And we got Brooksy, who's injured as well, who was vital last season. And I think our attack can scare any defence in the league if we're on it. I don't think we were at our best today, but sometimes you need to win games dirty, and that's what we did today.

286.219 - 297.034 Kelly Cates

Josh, you've done what pretty much everyone on our production team has wanted to do today. You walked past Gary and gave him a quick flick on the ear before you came out onto the pitch. Do you think that might be lucky now? Do you think you might need to do that before every game?

297.217 - 301.506 Josh King

If I see Gary before every game, I'll give him a flick. It's a lack of respect.

Chapter 6: How did the players react to the win and its significance?

319.402 - 330.717 Kelly Cates

I tell you what, if you want, hang around and someone will bring it over and you can just join in the chat with us for a little bit longer if you'd like to. But we'll let you go and get your award done and everything done. But thanks very much. Go and celebrate the win. Thank you very much for that.

0

331.203 - 332.945 Jamie Carragher

Thank you.

0

333.185 - 343.758 Kelly Cates

We will get that Man of the Match award when we've got hold of it. I'm sure it's one of your two responsibilities to have your hands on that one. Let's take a look then at the first goal. We talked about it with Nathan Aki. What did you make of it, Gary?

0

344.058 - 359.556 Gary Neville

Well, the first time I've ever stood next to Nathan Aki is just there on that interview on the pitch. And he must be sort of 5'11". So the way in which he attacks it and just brushes past Romelu, who must be 6'1", and then climbs above Danso, he's absolutely fantastic. His spring is wonderful. That's the key bit there. That's where Southampton lose the goal.

0

359.536 - 366.745 Gary Neville

They don't lose the goal in the end challenge with Dansu. They lose the goal where Romelu just lets him brush past him. It's too easy.

368.378 - 380.11 Jamie Carragher

I mean, it is. This is something... I keep going back to... We talk about zone or mark, and everyone always blames the system. In terms of that man, the blocker, and let's not forget, we did this on Monday Night Football with Man City.

380.51 - 395.685 Jamie Carragher

The problem is when you've got three people on the six-yard box who are looking to attack the ball, and if the opposition have got no players there, they've obviously got more players than you've got, so they've now got, say, five players attacking the ball. There's probably only three blockers for Southampton, so someone's going to get free.

395.665 - 412.287 Jamie Carragher

But with Romero, he targets Nathan Aki, and he's just not strong enough now. The job of that man there is to stop a run, not actually go with a run. So you see where he ends up, Romero. He actually ends up right by the centre-back who's going for the ball. I think it was Dan So there. But he's not strong enough. He gets beaten on the run.

412.307 - 430.552 Jamie Carragher

So actually, as someone's running, it's almost you're hitting each other at the same time. So let the man run on to you. So if you want to run on to me. Go on. That's what two men running into each other looks like. That's the whole purpose of that. So then that man is actually jumping from a standing rather than running onto something.
