We'll start today with Troy Deeney because I think he's representative of a change in mood among certainly some Premier League players over the last seven days or so. Also representative of the momentum that Project Restart seems to have right now. In an interview here picked up across the back pages, he now sounds much more comfortable with restart plans. Remember, he's not been back to training yet and he's previously voiced some very understandable concerns about about his young son, about the increased risk to BAME players. But this week's presentations to players and conversations with the government's deputy medical officer, Jonathan Van Tam, seem to have gone some way to convincing him. This is just a small section of what he's had to say.
I'm the captain of a Premier League football team. I'm not doing my job if I'm sitting back at home saying to the players, you win this game for me and I'm not doing anything. Anyone that knows me knows I'm never scared of a challenge. Anyone that knows me also knows that family is the most important thing for me.

Yeah, it seems to be. And I think someone that's been so vocal about it, and rightly so, if he has any worries, any fears, I think he has to come forward and he feels a lot more comfortable. Now, Troy is important for a number of reasons. Because he is such a big figure in the Premier League, he's got a voice and he wants to make sure that people are comfortable. And I think from Watford's point of view, Nigel Pearce, to have him back would be so important because he's their captain. What you don't want in a situation like this is the big players not being around. Now, I understand, obviously, N'Golo Kante is the same as well. He might feel that it's still not the right environment for him to come back to.
But the fact is that Troy seems a lot happier. He's spoken to the powers that be. It's great news because we want to see as much as possible a really fair playing field here where everyone has got their best players if they can. So make this, whatever way the season finishes, the fairest way we can.
Jamie Carragher, what do you think it is that's convinced players? We've obviously seen Bundesliga have relative success in how that's gone so far. Very few positive tests. Do both those play a part?
Yeah, I think so. I think the players also just wanted communication. They wanted confidence as well. I think when you listen to Troy Dealey now, it seems like he's come around on the back of maybe having four or five conversations he said he's had with maybe medical advisors at his own club to do with maybe the Premier League in these meetings with the captains also. I think that was always a major part of Project Restart was the actual communication. It felt like there was a lot of meetings with chairman and CEOs about the financial side of it. at the end of the day was the players who were going to be most at risk by going onto the pitch and going back to train and they needed convincing as as much as anyone i think we said two or three weeks ago on the show the premier league need to take the players with them on this journey to get project restart going and obviously there was going to be players i think i said there will be three or four players at least in every squad they will have reservations and you'll need to convince them in different ways and and then there may still be players who don't feel it's safe enough to play but
