What holiday traditions are being judged in this episode?

George Kamel 0:05
Today, we're either co-signing your favorite holiday traditions or mildly judging them. Tis the season.
Rachel Cruze 0:11
It feels like a lot of effort in a season to get nothing out of it. Wow. I guess except for joy.
George Kamel 0:17
Let's talk about Elf on the Shelf.
Rachel Cruze 0:18
Our elf is Sprinkles. Sometimes she is so tired.
George Kamel 0:22
We're going to get roasted for this one. I'm going cringe.
Rachel Cruze 0:25
Shoot, George, I was too. Are we the same person? Hey, guys, I'm Rachel Cruz.
George Kamel 0:34
I'm George Camel.
Rachel Cruze 0:36
And this is Smart Money Happy Hour.
George Kamel 0:38
Cheers, George. Cheers.

How is the Elf on the Shelf tradition perceived?

George Kamel 0:44
And Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.
Rachel Cruze 0:46
Merry Christmas. I do feel like my effort towards your clinking these days. You noticed it finally? I did, actually, just now. Because you did. You were reaching far.
George Kamel 0:58
I'm going to have the team create a montage of every time you clink.
George Kamel 1:08
Can I reach?
Rachel Cruze 1:08
Yeah, listen, you got it. Cheers, George.
George Kamel 1:11
To show you just how little effort you go. Like, I think my arm is actually elongated just by doing this show.
Rachel Cruze 1:19
I think I end up doing this and, like, making you.
George Kamel 1:21
Well, honestly, I just think maybe she has an arm situation where she can't extend it that far.
Rachel Cruze 1:26
I think I'm just like a clinking princess. That's what I'm going to call myself.
George Kamel 1:30
Well, honestly, I don't want to make Rachel do too much work.
Rachel Cruze 1:32
Little effort. That's always my concern. Little effort. Well, this is the show where two friends who happen to be money experts talk about what you're talking about. So everything from pop culture, current events, and money.
George Kamel 1:43
And today we're sipping on a Cran Raspberry Martini Mocktail. That is mouthful. And so is this drink.
Rachel Cruze 1:49
Yeah.
George Kamel 1:50
Very tart, very delicious.
Rachel Cruze 1:51
I like it. You like tart drinks, right?
George Kamel 1:53
I do. I like to just be punched in the face with a little bit of tartness. I deserve it. Merry Christmas. So stick around until the end of the episode. We're going to give you our rating and reveal the cost per glass. All right, Rachel. Fa, and I cannot stress this enough, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.
Rachel Cruze 2:11
Merry Christmas. Y'all, we're like a week out. Grace. How you feeling? Stressed? Anxious? What's the status?
George Kamel 2:18
I feel whelmed. I'm not overwhelmed. I'm not underwhelmed. I'm just, I'm trying to keep it chill this Christmas because usually around the holidays, things get crazier, especially as it ramps into a holiday break. Yep. And I feel like I just need to chill. I got a newborn. I got a toddler. Let's just enjoy the chaos of the season.
Rachel Cruze 2:36
Yes. Yes. That's good, George. I appreciate that.
George Kamel 2:38
That's on growth. How about you?
Rachel Cruze 2:39
How are you feeling? I'm feeling like, Like that. Christmas gives me like the whoosh. I just feel great. Are you traveling?
George Kamel 2:49
I love it. Are you in town?
Rachel Cruze 2:50
Everybody wants to know. We're traveling some, yes. Knoxville? Yep. Heading to Knoxville for the cruise Christmas.
George Kamel 2:56
Buddy Cruise.
Rachel Cruze 2:56
Yes.
George Kamel 2:57
One of my favorite cruises.
Rachel Cruze 2:58
Buddy and Helen. And the whole family. We got how many? It's five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven grandkids on that side. I know. Seventh, eighth grade and under. We got one per year.
George Kamel 3:11
Do you guys do the gifts all at once with the kids?
Rachel Cruze 3:14
Yes. Yeah. Oh, that's fun. I know. It's so great. His parents are so generous. They're like, I mean, that's a lot of grandkids to buy for. Yeah. I know. But we're doing that. Come and do our cruise Christmas. We do. And then go to mom and dad's. And then we always go to Mexico with the Ramseys.
George Kamel 3:31
I can't wait to be a part of that tradition. I'm hoping one day it's like I'll make a wish. You guys say, let's bring George along.
Rachel Cruze 3:37
Just let him one time. Just Uncle George. So fun. The kids would love it if you came.
George Kamel 3:41
I'd love a Cabo Christmas.
Rachel Cruze 3:42
And bring Mia and Whitney and everyone. Just show up. You should just show up one day.
George Kamel 3:46
That feels like a lot of work. I don't even have the address.
Rachel Cruze 3:49
Yeah, it'd be a lot, but it's great. But yeah, I love it. So if you are feeling a little stressed, though, if you're traveling, maybe you are, hopefully this is a little comic relief for you on this Christmas episode because it's so fun. A little reprieve.
George Kamel 4:01
Yeah. Well, we're all about disrupting toxic culture, and sometimes this includes holiday traditions that need to be gently reexamined.
Rachel Cruze 4:10
Mm-hmm.
George Kamel 4:10
Shall we say?
