Who is Jon Paul Crimi and what is his journey to becoming a breathwork teacher?

Jon Paul Crimi 0:00
John, welcome to the show. Aaron, thanks for having me.
Aaron Machbitz 0:03
Absolutely. So my first and most important question is How are you doing, man? Like actually like for real. How are you doing?
Jon Paul Crimi 0:12
It's funny. I try to be as real and as honest as I can. And it just depends. I mean, that how do we want to break that down? In life, I'm great. I'm so much better than I think I am. I was just dealing with a computer problem that was just impossible to solve. And I don't have the tech uh capabilities where I just I wanted to like lose my shit. I literally went out into the garage and started hitting the heavy bag. Which led to my son coming out into the garage and hitting the heavy bag and me teaching him some boxing skills. So it actually turned out into a great moment. So like there's something irritating, frustrating. I found a good outlet for it and then it turned into a great father son moment. So I guess I'm doing pretty pretty awesome if you break it down that way.

Aaron Machbitz 1:44
And again, if you become a member on Patreon, you get exclusive. exclusive merch discounts. So those are the best ways to support the work that we are doing here now onto the episode, completely uninterrupted and ad-free. Yeah, that sounds like a really magical moment with your son. Um, that was actually kind of the first thing I was gonna talk to you about. It's very self-indulgent here, John, because I'm a I'm I'm a brand new dad. My son, right now at the time of this recording, is about to be 11 months old. Uh I've got another kid on the way. Uh my wife's pregnant again. God bless. It's a miracle. So, you know, just um any any advice you have. You're you're farther along in your in your dad journey than I am.
Aaron Machbitz 2:22
Yeah. What have you learned? Maybe some potholes that I should try and avoid, you know, anything that comes to top of the mind, really. Yeah, anything
Jon Paul Crimi 2:28
I love that you asked me this 'cause nobody ever asks me this and I'm like, Well, I think I've done a pretty good job 'cause first of all I go by John Paul or JP so I I gotta put a change to that. We'll shift that. But so um You know, nobody ever asked me this question. And I think I'm a really good dad because I made a real conscious choice to become a dad. I I had always decided I didn't want to be a dad. And then something happened at a Tony Robbins seminar that I had like a vision in the seminar and I shifted. And I came home and I was like, I think I want to be a father. My wife's like, what? And I and so I I made a real clear choice to become a father. And I thought, if I'm gonna do this, I wanna do it right.
Jon Paul Crimi 3:06
Like I wanna be a great dad. I don't wanna be a shit dad. And so I've put a lot of time and energy into it, a lot of effort. Um, and I think the biggest thing is is that just like You have to model it for them. You know, a lot of parents will be like, Oh, you can't do this, so you shouldn't do that, or you shouldn't, you know, but like th they don't they don't care what you say. You gotta show them, right? And so one of the things I saw when my daughter was like two or three years old, I had a rope in the garage. I had a gym that I had built in the garage, and she was trying to climb it and she she got really frustrated. She started saying, I'm not good, I'm bad, I'm not good. And started beating yourself up.
Jon Paul Crimi 3:46
And it hurt my heart to watch that. And I went, holy shit, that's what I do to myself when I can't do something, right?
