Since this is the first episode of this podcast, I'd like to go over the format of the podcast so you'll have an idea of what you can expect in today's episode and future episodes.

This is when I will inform you on any news and updates that you need to know about for speech and language kids or speech and language development in general. After that, we'll go into our feature segment, which will contain one topic that we go into depth on or an interview with a professional. After that will be the quick tip or resource. In our news and updates section today, I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Carrie Clark. I am a speech language pathologist in Columbia, Missouri, and I am current currently working full time as a speech therapist in the Columbia Public Schools. I currently work in the early childhood special education department, which serves children ages three through five in the Columbia area. Um, I absolutely love this age. I think they're very fun and one of my favorite groups of people to work with. Um, I work with children with all types of disorders and disabilities over at the preschool.
We range from the very severely disabled children all the way up through children who are just working on a couple of sounds and need a little help there. I also work with um some children in my private practice at home. I work with older children as well as younger children in my private practice. Um and I also work with a variety of children there too. Uh my third job, because I seem to be a little bit of a workaholic, is that I run the Speech and Language Kids work uh website. This website is um hopefully how you found me today, but it is a resource for appearance of children with disabilities. Um it's all about speech and language development and delays and therapies and it has activities and all kinds of good stuff.

I got married to a wonderful man named Tom Clark, who is so supportive of all of my different jobs and business ventures. Our goals for the year of two thousand thirteen, we'd like to move into a new house. We'd love to win the lottery, but we're not sure that'll happen. And um I would like to start working part time for an online therapy company so that I can focus more time on my website and on this podcast. And we're looking to start a family.
