What are you least looking forward to? Um... Do you know what? I'm trying to be really positive about it. Yeah, me too. You're all about going away from us in New York. What? Five weeks. Together. I think it's five and a half weeks. Five and a half weeks, yeah. How we all cope with each other and the challenges of all that stuff, being away from the family. You do it a little, don't you? It's a challenge. I mean, how do you get your gear over? gear we got an email the other day you must have got the same email about how much luggage we can take and I think they've said we can bring five cases what did you not get what I've got two cases I mean in fact I guess said something like it was we know somebody's definitely bringing five I need clothes to wear and clothes I'm bringing literally one case
Ben Whittaker 0:59
I don't even have that much clothes for six. But you can buy clothes over there. We can buy a bit of care. A bit of linen, is it? A bit of linen.
Jamie Carragher 1:06
That's what I'm telling you. We just need some linen. Something that's going to float on us. No, but I'm looking forward to all that stuff. Being in Brooklyn, embracing America. Yeah, the High Line. We're going to go to see the Yankees. Yeah. We're going to go and see Liberty. I'm going to watch some basketball. Watch some golf. Yeah, we're going to do... A little bit of football. We probably have to watch a bit of football. Yes. But I'm going to do everything. I'm just going to make it like a... I'm going to go and it's going to be like a home from home. I'm just going to go and get right amongst it. I'm going to try and do that as well, honestly. Let's go to a jazz club, man. Let's go and see... Yeah, a jazz club sounds good, yeah.
Jamie Carragher 1:38
Yeah, let's go and see a cheeky little jazz club. We can just walk about, just ease in. You know what I mean? I might get my jazz flute out. Jazz club. Do a jazz flute. I've got my harmonica.
Ben Whittaker 1:46
We can do a bit. And Roy's got a little club membership now, right? I know, yeah. Someone else now. It's not confirmed yet.
Unknown 1:52
No, he's in. It's not confirmed yet. He's got it. He knows he's got it.
Ben Whittaker 1:56
He's got it now. It's not. Not yet. Set me up for a fall. No, no, no, no, no.
Ben Whittaker 2:09
Tom, I've listened to you quite a bit. Did you ever lose your confidence? What was a point in your career where you just felt like you didn't want that? You said before you wanted the ball in your hands in the big moment. But was there a point where you went under a little bit, where you lost confidence? In college.
Tom Brady 2:24
In college? In college, yeah. Because I wasn't the best, I had to develop a lot of confidence in myself. And I looked at – I went to Michigan. It was a great program. I had a very challenging five years at Michigan where I was growing into the athlete that I wanted to be. And I would very much make a lot of excuses why I wasn't performing at my best. And there was a sports psychologist there named Greg Harden. And Greg said to me, he called me into his office and he was a great asset to the organization. Unfortunately, Greg passed away about a year ago. He was a sports psychologist. And he said, why don't you quit bitching about all the things you're not getting? And how about you do the best with whatever opportunities you get?
Tom Brady 3:09
Stop worrying about what the other quarterback's getting. Stop worrying about what the coach is saying to you. Every time you get in there, you bring the juice. You bring the energy. You bring the enthusiasm. You treat practice like a game. Because if you just decide to go out there and you're blaming everybody else, where does that get you? So I started to change my attitude and I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself. And when you don't have a lot of confidence in yourself, you blame other people. And then all of a sudden, when you gain confidence in yourself, you start pointing the finger at yourself. And I would encourage every athlete to look in the mirror after every day of practice, of game, and say, what can I do better to help the team?
