This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human.
So like by age 11 or so, at least 70% have a phone.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is Therapy for Black Girls. We spend our surviving middle school run getting into what's happening inside your kid's brain, their group chats, and their friendships, and what you can do about it.
Your child is not doing this on purpose.
That's the kind of perspective we've been pulling from the psychologists and psychiatrists who study this for a living. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Self-care September is your reminder to slow down, check in with yourself, get off your phone and maybe ask, why am I like this? I'm Gemma Speck, host of the Psychology of Your 20s podcast. And this month, we're helping you make sense of the person that you are becoming. From setting boundaries and navigating friendships to understanding anxiety, confidence, relationships and attachment problems. Sometimes our biggest decisions, without us even realizing it, aren't driven by what we truly want, but by what will prevent us from feeling lonely or being alone. Listen to The Psychology of Your 20s on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Welcome to Decoding Women's Health. I'm Dr. Elizabeth Poynter, Chair of Women's Health and Gynecology at the Adria Health Institute in New York City. I'll be talking to top researchers and clinicians and bringing vital information about midlife women's health directly to you.
100% of women go through menopause. Even if it's natural, why should we suffer through it?
Listen to Decoding Women's Health with Dr. Elizabeth Poynter on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Okay, I'm back with a neat and rollicking look at some sci-fi theories, in the truest sense of the word sci-fi, about what lines of progress any intelligent civilization should follow. And this concept leads, pretty much inevitably, to things like building space probes and harnessing the energy of stars, all of which should leave some telltale trace of a civilization already far more advanced than ours. What happens after that is another story.
Welcome to Stuff You Should Know from HowStuffWorks.com.
Hey, and welcome to the podcast. I'm Josh Clark, and there's Charles W. Chuck Bryant. Jerry's over there with their foot on the button, and that means this is Stuff You Should Know, the podcast.
The foot on the button.
Just waiting to cut us off.
Yeah, that's what no one knows, but Jerry has a kill switch at her foot for all of our profane tirades.
Yeah, it would kill us if she ever pressed it.
That's right.
That's why they call it that.
But she's not very good at it, I've noticed.
I've noticed, too. Some stuff slips by.
Yeah, I told her she's like Keith Richards of podcast producers because he can't use guitar pedals. So he's known for that? Is
that a thing?
Well, I mean, I don't know how known he is, maybe among guitar players, but he just plugs right into the amp. That's pretty great.
Oh, I see.
And he was on Mark Maron's podcast. It was a great interview. And Maron, you know, is pure Keith Richards, and he was just basically like, you know, I have a hard time standing upright. Like, I can't mess with trying to press foot pedals. Right. That's Keith, man. Yep. Very pure. Yeah. Yeah. And by pure, I mean... Pure heroin. Yeah. Pure China. No, he's clean now, but... Is he really? That's astounding. Well, I mean... No, I mean, he doesn't do, like, hard drugs anymore.
I
gotcha. I think he drinks and smokes weed.
I gotcha.
But it's Keith Richards. Come on. Yeah. He still smokes, too. Actually, Marin smoked his first cigarette in a decade in that show with him.
Oh, that was smart. That was a good decision.
He was like, I have to. How can I not?
Yeah, he easily could not have done that. I'm disappointed. Did he really?
Yeah. Keith Richard offered him a smoke, and he's like, sure.
Yeah. I mean, I see that, but at the same time, I also see not smoking. Listen to you. I know. I'm being judgy.
