11 May 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What were the key moments in Celtic's 3-1 victory over Rangers?

0.52 - 10.75 Andrew Maclean

0141 951 1025 It's time to talk football It's Clyde One Super Scoreboard

0

17.513 - 39.027 Unknown

Good evening and welcome to Clyde One. Super scoreboard Celtic strength in their title bid with a 3-1 win over Rangers at Celtic Park. They're now just one point behind Hearts who drew 1-1 with Motherwell on Saturday night with two games remaining in the Premiership. And with Rangers guaranteed to finish third this season, what does that mean for Danny Rule? I'm Andrew McLean.

0

39.067 - 44.736 Unknown

Joining me in the studio is Brian Graham and Alex Ray. And I think there's going to be plenty to talk about on the phones tonight, Alex.

0

44.716 - 64.581 Unknown

Yeah I'm expecting it to be busy Andrew obviously a massive weekend for Celtic hearts dropping points at Motherwell I thought the win for Camarnock was obviously very big as well in the context of the bottom end of the table Yeah loads to talk about in terms of the game yesterday the action across the weekend but big picture stuff as well the title race two games left of this season

0

64.882 - 75.313 Alex Rae

well the three horse race is now a two horse race and obviously there was a lot of things happening yesterday I'm sure we'll go over it in the show tonight but as Alec alluded to there the big one at the bottom St Mirren, Kilmarnock, St Mirren

Chapter 2: How do fans feel about the title race after the recent match?

75.698 - 96.745 Unknown

really struggling of late come on fantastic results so they've kind of put themselves a wee bit out there so there's so much talking points I'm sure we'll get through them tonight yeah 01419511025 so many questions that we want you to answer out there Celtic fans are you now believing that you can win the league title how do you rate your chances of getting the job done with just two games to go and just one point in

0

96.725 - 118.058 Unknown

it are you confident are you feeling wary maybe heading to Fir Park on Wednesday night and what about the other side of it Rangers fans defeat to your rivals guaranteed to finish in third no trophies this season do you want to talk about the game maybe you're more interested in the bigger picture what does it mean for Danny Rule 01419511025 maybe you were a Hearts fan that got to sit back yesterday

0

118.038 - 147.69 Unknown

and watch it all unfold how do you feel about things with just two games to go 0-1-4-1 9-5-1 1-0-2-5 lots happening elsewhere that we will get into as well while you get your calls in why don't we start with the weekend awards shall we let's go for the result of the weekend start with you Brian I'll go Comarnock against St Mirren I must win game for Comarnock and they came up trumps yeah I'll go for Celtic I think it was a massive three points very much got the momentum at the moment

0

148.261 - 167.287 Unknown

goal of the weekend I think it's pretty obvious there's one standout candidate isn't there who's going to take it I'll go for it I thought I'm going to listen I know he was we were talking earlier on and he was obviously mentioning Maeda first I'll go for Finlay Curtis just to give Brian his place because I was at the game and I thought he's Which one?

0

167.367 - 186.064 Unknown

Because they were both similar Just the composure to slot it for one so young Also quite similar to his one last weekend as well pretty much the same finish He's been a terrific signing for Neil down there at Camarnock Broke into the Scotland squad as well Andrew so you know he's really going places this kid Go on talk to us as a striker about that Dyson Maeda goal

186.044 - 201.066 Alex Rae

it's not even a striker I don't the way he flicks it up before he's selling any the acrobatic overhead kick and it just loops right in the top corner he couldn't have went up there and placed it any better it was unbelievable fantastic finish we've seen a fantastic overhead kick in the previous fixture with the Rangers at Ibrox which are matey

201.046 - 231.053 Alex Rae

and then Dyson goes and does one better it's unbelievable I've already seen people trying to work out what's better out of that and the well that and the Charmitty overhead kick but also Martin O'Neill was asked about the well you could bring that into it as well Martin O'Neill was asked about the Henrik Larsson lob in 2000 against Rangers in terms of Celtic goals against Rangers Oh for Larsson that many years ago now that was incredible I think that was probably the way Larsson takes it and nutmegs one of the Rangers players and then dinks it over Stefan Klos that was an incredible incredible goal Thanks for reminding us Brian Yep Remember it well Sorry Alex

231.033 - 247.185 Alex Rae

no listen they're all so good in their own right but I couldn't pick one they were all incredible goals what about howler of the weekend it could be an individual performance it could be a manager it could be a refereeing decision I just think for me you'll probably know lightly I'm going to say this but

247.165 - 265.242 Alex Rae

Lawrence Shanklin's big chance with Stephen O'Donnell gets back in the block I think it is an unbelievable block it is an unbelievable block but Lawrence being Lawrence a top top striker fantastic goal scorer I think he smiles because he thinks he's already scored before he gets the ball in the back of the net and it's so unlike him but in true style he comes back and scores but that was my howler of the week

Chapter 3: What frustrations do Rangers fans express after the loss?

265.222 - 267.966 Alex Rae

I'm going to go for John Beaton and VAR.

0

268.226 - 286.393 Unknown

I think he's missed a howler there, really. He's had a howler, but I think it was pretty straightforward for most people watching the tackle on Moore. For me, it's a straight red. I'm sure we'll have some interesting thoughts on that tonight. What about final one, top performer of the weekend? Who was your star man across the piece?

0

286.814 - 291.921 Alex Rae

I think it's Dijs de Maida. He gets the two goals. He gets Celtic right in this title race and...

0

Chapter 4: What are the implications of Rangers finishing third this season?

291.901 - 302.358 Alex Rae

he was unplayable yesterday he missed a couple of chances but he's all good players he keeps going and gets himself another double he's been fantastic for Celtic in the last couple of weeks and who knows he might get them that title Top performer Alex?

0

302.438 - 313.977 Unknown

Yeah I was fortunate enough to be at the game at the weekend I thought Finlay Curtis throughout the game was a real threat and to get the two goals and as I said the other one I feel as if it was a real good piece of business getting him in

0

313.957 - 330.868 Unknown

It's an interesting start going about, you know, Finlay Curtis is currently on seven goals and, you know, you look at the Rangers wingers who have pretty much not kind of added to their tally at all. I think he beats three of them and I've obviously let him go in January. I think that can may well be a bit of a mistake letting him go.

0

330.848 - 350.325 Alex Rae

no I totally agree with you there the money Rangers spent in the transfer window you let a kid because he's a young boy maybe he deserved a chance at Rangers and he's went to Camarnock and he's shown what he's all about and he's been down there and helped Neil McCann and Billy Dodge so Rangers might rule that loan deal right then 01419511025 maybe you're a Celtic fan that wants to focus on the podcast

0

350.305 - 375.587 Unknown

positives in the title race rangers fans i'm guessing you're not going to be as positive what do you think about the bigger picture what did you make of the performance yesterday what does it mean for danny rule want to hear from you hearts fans as well with the way the table is sitting with just two games to go oh one four one nine five one one oh two five let's speak to mark who's a rangers fan and kumar who's going to kick things off for us good evening how are we all good thanks mark

377.879 - 402.537 Mark

so yeah I think there's no surprise and you're probably going to get a lot of this from Rangers fans tonight Danny Rowe he needs to go the boarders need to be really quick and decisive here and not wait until the inevitable October next year I think he's shown now that he's incapable of getting big results on big games I mean yesterday I mean let's face it he was out thought by what a 73 year old man who was until recently retired

402.803 - 423.664 Unknown

I just don't think he's got it and my second point we'll take that first of all Mark and then I'll let you come back in on your second point how are you feeling about Danny Rule a few weeks ago there was all that talk about the fact that he'd gone from 13 points behind to one point behind where are you feeling positive about him and how much has that changed over the course of the last three games

425.517 - 431.647 Mark

No, I think for a good few months now, most Rangers fans could see it was going to head this way.

Chapter 5: How do Celtic fans view their chances in the title race?

432.087 - 453.372 Mark

Inevitably, you've got that new manager bounce that we have seen many times before. We've seen it with Clement, we've seen it with Gio, we've seen it with Michael Beale. You get the first few games and everything's rosy, but... The performances have been so poor, but when it comes down to the big games, he's been so, so poor. I mean, his reactions to things on the park is so slow.

0

453.892 - 466.51 Mark

Every Rangers fan would have watched that game yesterday and knew that the changes Celtic were going to make in the second half. And he just went with it for, what, 60 minutes until he made changes? Starting Tavernier yesterday was a joke, let's face it.

0

467.35 - 481.63 Unknown

Alex, if you are an old firm manager and you don't win the league and you don't win any trophies whatsoever, there are always going to be question marks. Is that heightened when 40 million is spent this season and you finish third in the table?

0

Chapter 6: What were the standout performances in the weekend matches?

482.048 - 501.203 Unknown

Yeah, well, listen, I think it's, you have to look at it twofold. There's been obviously two managers in there as well. All that money wasn't spent on him. I think it was well regarded, the poor start that they had, that they'd recruited poorly. There wasn't a great deal of players jumping out who arrived last summer, who you would go, oh, he's a mainstay.

0

501.224 - 522.754 Unknown

And, you know, there was a lot of question marks over the majority. Obviously, the top end of the pitch you had, you had Cermiti who was getting a barrage of abuse about that as well and then Fernandes and then all of a sudden Danny Rowe comes in and he actually he's right Mark's right they get the bounce but unfortunately they haven't been able to maintain that

0

522.734 - 539.933 Unknown

now the problem you have is with this is rinse and repeat and Mark mentioned the previous three or four managers where you come in you get a bounce and then as soon as it goes wrong now I think three games ago I think people were saying Rangers were probably favourites to go in and win this but they had the momentum they were scoring quite fraily

0

539.913 - 567.608 Unknown

and the fact that they were conceding goals at the back for me was a concern even though they were winning games they used to take three after the beginning so see when they're conceding twos and threes and things that was a real concern for me the alarm bells are there yeah because it just puts more pressure at the top end of the pitch if you don't obviously score goals there then you still have that fragility and it's carried on into yesterday's game where they've conceded three as well so then you have now and it's a real dilemma for the Rangers board because obviously you've got two games to go

0

Chapter 7: How do injuries affect Hearts' chances in the final matches?

567.588 - 587.25 Unknown

Depending how that goes, you're limping into the summer, finishing third. In March, right, they've spent £40 million. And there's question marks over the manager. There's question marks over the personnel in the dressing room. And what you have there is you have a disgruntled Rangers following, thinking, if we go into the summer, are we going to...

0

587.23 - 617.237 Alex Rae

finance this manager and trying to be balanced and fair to Danny Rowe he said one transfer window which is not a great deal it's not a good mark either that time in January when the money he spent and the players he brought in you could see the buzz that were round about the Rangers supporters they fought and by the way a lot of us fought as well that they came out of that so strongly and everybody kind of thought Rangers could go on to win this title the fact that Rangers had only lost two games up until the post split fixtures to then go on free and lose free on a row when you're pushing for a club like Rangers to go and win a title

0

617.217 - 638.449 Alex Rae

that is simply not good enough and by the way I've been on this show in the last couple of weeks and I've said about Danny Rowe and I felt and I still do feel he deserves a pre-season and get these same players in because at the same time it's easy to shout at the manager the players that are there need to take a huge responsibility this is now the second manager at Rangers and if you actually look at the game yesterday Rangers started extremely well

0

638.429 - 666.445 Alex Rae

Romans and Tavernier had the freedom of Celtic Park on the flanks The two, Mikey Moore and Ant-Man were coming into the pockets Tying up Celtic's full backs Rangers' problem was the quality They could not get the ball to those wide players to really go and hurt them And on a few occasions where they actually did get it to Tavernier He would hit the first man and that is so unlike him So there were signs of Rangers starting extremely well They get the first goal But as soon as Celtic get level And then obviously they score the two goals in the second half

0

666.425 - 690.559 Unknown

like it's an old firm game Rangers went missing for me yeah but it's not it's not just the old firm game I think you know even if you go back to the Motherwell game you know they show that spurt in the second half but then they cave in again so there's a Danny Rowe tries to evade the question of the mentality of the group and he's trying to protect them in some ways but the actual reality is when it came to the crunch the three games subsequently since the split they've not been near it

690.539 - 696.465 Unknown

Where does that share of responsibility lie for you, Mark, between Danny Rule and the players?

Chapter 8: What are the expectations for the upcoming fixtures in the title race?

699.368 - 719.953 Mark

It's equally shared. There's no getting away from that, right? The players' mentality has been questioned. And I think they've not come out of this looking rosy. Absolutely not. So the players are absolutely at fault as much as Danny Rule. But Danny Rule's got to bear the brunt of that. I'm afraid that's his job. And unfortunately, he's not performing to standards.

0

719.973 - 733.455 Mark

But what I would say on top of that, and Alex is absolutely bangling the money in regards to our defence, that our arm bells have been going off for a very, very long time now. The way that we've been shitting goals and we've been scoring, but we've been shitting goals left, right and centre. My bigger point though is,

0

734.87 - 751.541 Mark

How many games now have we showed up for 45 minutes and opposing manager makes a little tweak or a little change in their formation or their shape and it's like he's baffled by it and it takes him like 20 minutes to react to that. You know, he's supposed to be a young, exciting coach, comes with a decent reputation.

0

751.561 - 757.232 Mark

I mean, you don't work at Bayern Munich if you're not good at something about you. But, you know, he should know better than that.

0

757.769 - 766.879 Alex Rae

he needs to be quicker and I just don't think he's got it So here's one for you Mark for example if Danny Rowe does go who would you like to see as a Rangers manager going forward then?

769.281 - 789.376 Mark

I think you've got two obvious choices staring you right in your face I think for years we've missed the boat out in Derek McInnes I think I'm going to be honest I think as a club we have been too snobby when it's come to players and managers we've been looking our nose down at Scottish players Scottish managers We should have took him about two years ago, to be honest.

789.496 - 803.909 Mark

So I would be breaking the bank to get him in, because I think he'll get it. Steven Gerrard's going to come up. Of course he is. Would I take him? Of course I would. But would he be my top choice? No, I would take Dell first, because I think he would do an excellent job.

804.57 - 808.674 Unknown

Thank you. To Mark, what about Davey, who is in Irvine. Davey, what have you got for us tonight?

810.776 - 835.549 Mark

I was... I was at the weekend there. It was just to say that it's actually getting to that stage that it's actually affecting my work life. I didn't even turn up today. That's how bad it is. Like, how bad does it have to be that it affects your whole work life? Like, I knew I was going to come in the usual stuff, but it was like, I've just had enough.
