Good evening and welcome to Clyde One Super Scoreboard. Martin O'Neill says he's keen to bring Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Serraci back to Celtic. Rangers are linked with another couple of central midfielders and motherwell goalkeeper Callum Ward moves to QPR. I'm Andrew McLean, joining me in the studio is John Spencer and it may be a slight change of pace for you because over the last few weeks when you've been in John, it's been all Scotland, it's been all World Cup, it's been pretty much the main focus but... I think attentions are now turning to the start of the season. Transfers, a lot of chat about Celtic and Rangers, what they're going to do next. Can Hearts be challengers again this season?
Andrew Maclean 0:53
So a lot of intrigue in the domestic football again.
John Spencer 0:56
Yeah, definitely. And it's nice, as you say, Scotland went out early doors and now we're swinging back to the league campaign, which is going to be interesting. There'll be some moves, I would imagine, coming now that a lot of the teams are out of the World Cup. I would imagine there'll be some fresh faces coming in at the old firm.
Andrew Maclean 1:10
And the domestic stuff will take over naturally, but people will want to look back at the World Cup and look ahead because, of course, Steve Clarke is gone. There has been a bit of chat about who could be the next Scotland manager. I think that's going to be a really interesting one over the next few weeks because there have been a few names mentioned. I think Rafa Benitez was asked about it yesterday and refused to rule himself out. I saw a bit of chat about Roberto Martinez today. Some people wanting a Scottish manager. So it'll be interesting to see what the SFA do, what kind of route they go down.

Are Celtic in talks to re-sign Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Saracchi?

John Spencer 1:38
yeah definitely I think obviously Clarke has been in the job for a number of years I can't remember the last foreign manager was it Bertie Vogts maybe so we've kind of went the Scottish route so it'll be very very interesting to see if the SFA take a change of direction change of philosophy probably two big names that's been mentioned today it's a great job to get good squad of players so it'll be interesting to see what route they take

0141 951 1025 on the phones whatever is on your mind you can come on air make your point to John Spencer Martin O'Neill keen on bringing back Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Serraci are you pleased at that Celtic fans is the timing something that's maybe slightly confusing because of course there was that deal that clause in Kelechi Iheanacho's contract that he could have extended it right at the end of the season that was allowed to expire but Martin O'Neill saying after that friendly win against or that friendly draw I should say against Shelbourne that he could be coming back in the door or certainly Celtic are trying to what about Marcelo Serraci do you want to see him back at Celtic after what he did last season Rangers fans I'm seeing a lot of links with central midfielders is that a key area now for Derek McInnes to focus on are there other
Andrew Maclean 2:48
Areas that you think are maybe better for that. And Motherwell fans interested to hear from you because goalkeeper Callum Ward, he made it into the PFA Team of the Year last season, has moved to QPR for a fee reported to be around £800,000. That was one that kind of came out of nowhere today, John. He's been very impressive over the last season. One of the real benefactors from Jens Bertalasco coming in and implementing his style on Motherwell. But maybe they just felt that that fee was too much to turn down.
John Spencer 3:18
Well, I think, as you well know, in the modern game, especially at the smaller clubs, every player has a certain ceiling of transfer fee, etc. Ward's been brilliant last year. I think the style that Jens implemented at Motherwell really, really suited him. I still say that him and Scott Bain at Falk are, for me, the two best goalkeepers with the ball at their feet in the league. So he'll be a massive loss for Motherwell, no doubt.
