you know a couple of years to go then you can demand that bigger fee but you run the risk of the player saying you know what I'm going to sit tight for the next 12 months and the club ends up with nothing so it's you know you're left in that situation I think they were right to take the money And the big games keep coming thick and fast there are more Premier Sports Cup games tonight there were some at the weekend
I think they would have liked to have had the tag of Scottish champions this year didn't quite work out for them in the end but another step in the right direction for that club hopefully it's a very exciting journey for the club and the players and a first proper glimpse for heart supporters of what life after Derek McInnes is going to look like because
Well, it's the first step in the journey again.
Champions League football, I think they'll take that journey.
They'd be happy.
If you gave them that 12 months ago, they'd have been absolutely delighted to get into this tournament.
Fingers crossed for them.
It's a Scottish club.
We want them all to do well in Europe.
Yeah, I think everybody will say that about him.
I think his natural position is obviously coming in off the left-hand side.
I think if you see him time and time again, he misses a lot of...
chances that you would think someone that scores that many goals would score I don't think he's a touch touch finish guy I think it's a I've seen him playing against Falkirk and he gets sent through and when he's taking that multiple touches and he's got too much time in his hands I don't think that's his game I think he's more of an instinctive finisher where it's one touch finish in the box but as you say when they put him into the nine position because we're struggling for goals near the end of the season he certainly put the team on his back and carried them to a championship for sure
even if you look at the World Cup Andrew I don't think there was many players like him that pressed in the World Cup he did make a comment after I think it was when Japan got knocked out that he said he's seen the standard of the World Cup and he felt that he had another level to go or he wanted to challenge himself at another level so I think he made it abundantly clear that he felt that his time had come to an end at Celtic and he wanted to challenge himself in a better league and it seems to be with the news tonight that he's got that opportunity
Well, I think he's going to go from a team that dominates
the league up here at Celtic at times and they're going to have a lot of chances and a lot of the ball to a team that's going to be backs to the wall they're going to be defenders they're going to need players like him there's going to need more than one Maeda in that team because they're going to have to work relentlessly and they're going to have to work without the ball most times so it's going to be a big big challenge I think you know if you look at the boy Keogo as well was unbelievable up here for Celtic wanted to move wanted to go and challenge himself in a different league went you know made that move to France and it didn't quite work out and now he's sitting at Birmingham on the bench and can't get an opportunity so yeah
it's all good and well thinking that the moves are going to work out very well but it's different when you leave Rangers and Celtic and you go to the bigger clubs and you've got to perform against better quality opposition week in week out for 90 minutes so it's a big challenge 0141951
supporters like Mark have that optimism going into this new season despite all that change yeah definitely I think that the feel good factor has carried over from last year there's no doubt about that there's disappointment that they were so close to winning the championship and it never happened for them but that feel good factor is still there I think they've brought on a manager European manager it's going to be a different style of play I think from Derek last year as everybody's pinpointed
They've brought a lot of players in over the last summer and this summer.
So it'll be interesting to see the players that's been there for the last 12 months getting used to the club, getting used to the city, the culture, etc.
