Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
0141 951 1025 It's time to talk football It's Clyde One Super Scoreboard
Good evening and welcome to Clyde One's Super Scoreboard.
Chapter 2: What recent developments are there regarding Robbie Keane and Celtic?
Robbie Keane holds constructive talks with Celtic as Martin O'Neill gets set to follow. But is Craig Bellamy still in contention? That's as Luis Palma makes his permanent Celtic exit and Haiti send a World Cup warning with a 4-0 win over New Zealand. I'm Andrew McLean. Joining me in the studio is Kellyanne Sheridan and I feel like every time...
you're in the studio you think next time you're in there's going to be a big development about the Celtic manager surely Celtic will have a manager by that point you're in again still no big development at that point no maybe it's maybe I'm the jinx I keep holding it up yeah no I keep I think everyone probably was expecting a little bit more news
And by now, it seems to just be the same two or three names that keep popping up and being linked with us since kind of before the end of the season. Seems as if we're a little bit closer going by what people are reporting in terms of who they've spoken to and I think the seriousness of the talks. My only wonder is the kind of order they're doing things in.
If we're to believe that they're speaking to Robbie Keane but not speaking to Martin O'Neill, yes. I would probably go the other way. I would ask Martin O'Neill first and then maybe go and speak to other guys that I want. But...
yeah I think it's just another kind of delay in a managerial appointment that kind of I think a lot of Celtic fans just want to get done as soon as possible yeah I think they are it's a bit quiet elsewhere domestically there's been the odd signing here and there but I do wonder if that's because everyone's now just getting wrapped up in World Cup fever we're seeing the pictures of the
At the moment, we saw that Haiti had a World Cup friendly yesterday. Just seeing the teams in action, the teams that are in our group as well, it's just making it seem like it's really close now.
Yeah, I think the excitement is building. I've transferred my World Cup disappointment.
I realised I did say our as if I'm speaking to a fellow Scotsman, but you can be an honorary Scotsman. You've lived in Scotland for long enough that you can be an honorary Scotsman.

Chapter 3: Is Martin O'Neill still a viable candidate for the Celtic manager position?
Okay, but...
no I've transferred my disappointment from Ireland not making it to support for Scotland to do well I was going to say glory hunting but no one has ever glory hunted and supported Scotland but I'll take it this thing yeah I'll say I'm glory hunting for Scotland to give you a little bit of support that you need but yeah
No, look, I think that last night's results, Haiti's, will probably remind people that I don't think it's going to be the walkover game that people think. Especially, I think we all know Scotland aren't a... an expansive attacking footballing style of play at the minute under Steve Clarke. And it's not often we see World Cup games being easy 4-5-0 walkovers.
Chapter 4: What are the implications of Haiti's recent World Cup performance?
And to be fair, I think Steve Clarke and the Scotland team will know that. But I think it'll be an interesting first game and obviously a crucial one that they can get off to... that we can get off to a good start. There we go.
You know why you're a perfect honorary Scot? You've already got the pessimism sorted and we are world-class at pessimism. Right, so 01419511025 on the phones, whether it's the Celtic managerial situation, the developments with Robbie Keane holding constructive talks. What about the fact that it looks as if Martin O'Neill is set to have talks after Robbie Keane?
Chapter 5: How do fans perceive Robbie Keane's managerial credentials?
Could Craig Bellamy still be in contention? Is he someone you would like to see take over? 01419511025 Of course, any thoughts on Scotland and the World Cup? Or maybe your domestic side just hasn't... We'll see you next time.
on the Friday night as well straight after a packed day of music and I think you've got the lineup in front of you yeah Killian you I'm asking you this because we had Gordon DL on last night and I thought it would just be pointless trying to ask him what band or artist that he would pick out of that lineup is one that he'd be looking forward to seeing you strike me as a man of taste a better question for him I think would have been who does he actually recognize there if he's heard of any of them yeah
I've caught the last song of Richard Ashcroft at the Oasis gig so I would love to go and see him and see the full thing I've heard really good things Kasabian I've seen before from the Saturday night they were amazing live but looking forward to seeing Lewis Capaldi finish it up on Sunday at home the last night I think it'll
go out with a bang on us there we go you can take some of killian's suggestions and all you have to do is phone us 01419511025 if your call gets on air you make a point you'll be entered into the draw and we'll pick a winner at the end of the show it's over 18s only and you can find all the t's and c's on the website so call us now for your chance to win transmit tickets 01419511025 let's get straight to the phones shall we thomas is a celtic fan in cool sight thomas how are you
Hi Kelly as well, my point is obviously the prospect of signing Robbie Keane for Celtic manager Andrew, I just don't know if Celtic has got any ambition or any, you know what I mean, we've left it to the last minute again, Alaska was obviously touted as maybe a manager, I think we should have went from then, instead of hanging about and hanging about with the
it's typical Celtic we seem to we seem to wait till the last minute and just just I would say Robbie Keane Robbie Keane fills me with no hope absolutely nothing What is it about his his sort of managerial career that doesn't impress you?
He's not really done much Andrew I think I think the only reason he was thinking he'd become a link he played he played for us alone for five months I honestly don't think that
That's what I'm saying Yeah he's had Spells at two Different teams I think he had a very Very brief spell in India Where he was player Manager But he's had two Proper spells In management He Won a league title And a cup In his time in Israel He won the league And then the cup The following season This season In Hungary But a lot of people Will look at the fact That he was in charge Of Ferencvaros Who
won the title seven years in a row he helped win the final one but then it came to this season you know it was his players that he brought in in the window it was his style of football imprinted on it and then they lost the title after that spell of dominance can you see why people would have their question marks over that or do you look at the side of it that he's been at two clubs he's won four trophies with them in that time

Chapter 6: What challenges does Celtic face in their managerial search?
But from the outside, I felt like he's done well wherever he's managed. I feel like he's won. Obviously, he's just lost the league with Ferns, but he's won the league with them. He's won cups with them. He's won the league with Maccabi, he's won cups with them. He's managed big clubs in their respective leagues.
And I think he's got, if he's walking into a dressing room, people are going to respect him. He has that instantly. And I also think he's done well in Europe. He's qualified teams through difficult qualifying phases. Got both of them, I think, into Europa League. Had some good results.
I think it was the Conference League with Maccabi Tel Aviv got them to the round of 16 and then did the same in the Europa League with Ferencvaros.
Yeah, so I've kind of been impressed with him. I don't think he's a bad appointment. And I also think the fact that he resigned from over there, I think if it does come to fruition, that possibly it has been a little bit more in the long run than maybe not as such a panic appointment as Thomas was suggesting or thinks.
For you, Thomas, is it the standard of leagues that he's been in? Would you want someone with a greater, a longer back catalogue going into the Celtic job?
Somebody with a wee bit more experience. Obviously, Martinez was mentioned and other managers were mentioned. I think Martinez would obviously be good, but I just feel that
somebody with a bit of experience and a bit of nous in the transfer market that we need we certainly need players like us I think if anyone thinks Celtic are leaving it too late at the moment Roberto Martinez is not the option for them because whether he would take the job or not is a different option but he's going to the World Cup with Portugal so you're going to have to wait until Portugal exit the World Cup and then you bring in a manager who has not even thought about anything so
whether he would want it or not is a side point but if you're having to wait another four weeks five weeks or whatever to then appoint someone and people are already saying they're feeling it's quite late I can't really see that being a realistic option for some people yeah I mean look you can only you can only win for where you're playing Robbie Keane has won where he's managed
He's won more than Roberto Martinez has won as a manager. Personally, I wouldn't have really liked or got excited of Martinez being the Celtic manager. And I just think you gain experience. Robbie Keane has had a career of... probably at least 20 years at the top level of football. I think he's experienced enough in that.

Chapter 7: How does the managerial situation impact player recruitment?
I think every player should want to go in and impress a manager. But there's a difference in going in and impressing Robbie Keane. If you have Robbie Keane thinks I'm a good player, like you're going to feel 10 foot tall. And perhaps a similar thing when Steven Gerrard went into Rangers, there was that sense of, right, there's actually like quite, he's a legend in the game.
And it just gives you that little bit extra in going in and trying to impress someone.
Yeah.
Thomas, what about Craig Bellamy? Because there seems to be kind of mixed signals on that. I saw a report this morning saying that Celtic could still be interested in him. The way that he's spoken about it, he maybe looks as if he could stay at Wales for another couple of years. Is he an option that you think looks a bit better? Are you not convinced by him either?
Maybe Luke's had a better than Robbie Keane, you know, but I just feel, obviously, Bellarmine, I think he's distanced himself from club football. Anyway, I heard the report, obviously, that it was still a late day, maybe.
speak to Celtic about the job What makes him a more attractive option because if he's not had any club management experience I think he was assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley before he went to Bayern Munich he's been the Wales manager he's had about 20 games in charge why would he be a better option than Robbie Keane who's had a few seasons under his belt and won some trophies at club level
I don't think, I just think, I didn't say, I think Will and my mate might do well, but I just, as I say, I just done the whole thing, you know what I mean?
I just, Bobby would have maybe went out there and maybe looked him out instead of, you know what I mean, instead of looking at Bobby Keane or anybody else that, you know, I thought maybe he would have got out there and maybe managers, even CiarƔn McKenna, he's left up such. Whether they come up here, I don't know.
I think some people may look at it as possibly a lack of imagination Celtic went way outside the box with Wilfred Nancy that didn't work out you then look at the couple of options that have been mentioned outside of Martin O'Neill it's two guys that are former players have links with the club can you see why people might think those are lazy options or is it not a lazy option because you're looking for guys that knows what it means to play for the club because some people put a lot of value on that

Chapter 8: What are the pros and cons of having Martin O'Neill in a director of football role?
I just cannae get this I cannae see this Robbie Keane thing I just don't get it They're going to speak to him Before they've got his back Is Martin O'Neill not done enough this season To give a bit of credit Go and speak to him first
that's one point to it second point I just don't think Robbie's done enough you know actually where he's been you know I just think we need to push the boat out and I think we need to get somebody like the boy from Bobo Glynn I think you know spend the money all our season tickets just at the end of last month they've got the money for the season tickets now the supporters have put their foot forward
We just kind of go through another season that we've done there for another one to top and change and chop and change. I think this has to be done pretty quickly, pretty sharply. Players are not running out of contracts. Getting new players in, I just don't think Robbie Keane is the person. I'm sorry, no. I'm not getting it whatsoever.
What does the order of it say to you? You touched on it earlier on, the fact that the report seemed to suggest that Robbie Keane has had talks, had constructive talks, and that talks with Martin O'Neill will follow after that. Would that suggest to you that Robbie Keane is the priority and is then looking to see where Martin O'Neill fits into all that?
Yeah, I do find that a little bit weird, the order in how things are supposedly being done. After having to wait to speak to Martin O'Neill when... Martin O'Neill has referred to it before where he got a call out having a coffee from Dermot Desmond, I think. So I think he's quite easily accessible to Dermot Desmond if he wants to talk to him. Yeah.
So I don't understand how, if Celtic want to keep Martin O'Neill or if Martin O'Neill wants to stay, I'm sure that could have been worked out a week after the season. Perhaps maybe it's trying to find or to gauge what level of involvement Martin O'Neill wants in the club overall.
above a manager I just I just don't see the director of football I think it's I think it's a role that you need someone who's got like everyone's saying the manager needs to be experienced I think to be a director of football itself you need to have experience in that role or
a similar job to that because I think no matter what manager comes in the recruitment again is going to be a massive thing what players come in there's going to be I would imagine perhaps after the World Cup some players might go depending how they do and I just think the recruitment along with the managerial appointment is going to be a big an important change When does this need to get sorted by for you Scott?
Well, end of the week, beginning of next week, because obviously the World Cup's coming up and there's obviously a global thing there for any club, never mind Celtic, to look at players. Because obviously Maeda, we all know about Maeda, he's going to go there. He's hopefully going to play a blinder in the World Cup. His stature is going to go sky high if he does.
