What are the opening matchday headlines and who’s in the studio?
It's game day and this is the home of Scottish football. It's Clyde One Super Scoreboard.
Good afternoon and welcome to Clyde One Super Scoreboard. League football is back in Scotland with all teams in action across this weekend. The Premiership kicked off last night with Derek McInnes only managing a draw in his first Rangers match against Dundee United. There are two Premiership games today, two more tomorrow before its flag night at Celtic Park on Monday. The Saturday shows are back. I'm Andrew McLean. Joining me in the studio are Gordon DL, Cammy Bell and Roger Hanna.
We are back and this is the first weekend of the SPFL season. The one weekend of the year, Andrew, where hope, optimism and belief trump anxiety and tension in this show. Every supporter going to the games today will believe this can be the season that their team wins a league, gets into Europe, gets into the top six, gets promoted. It's not the year where they're going to sack the manager and be relegated. All opponents are excited. Cammy Bell, everybody else looks out for the results of all his old teams. He's got 27 different score games ringed here. Baz is back from his break. He looks like David Dickinson in a real deal. This is August the 1st. This is Super Scoreboard. Let's go!
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I think everybody's excited for a new season. If it's half as good as last year, we're in for a treat, Andrew. Obviously, it was up and running last night at Tanadise. Just wonder what the Rangers fans will think of that. Thought Dundee United played very well in stages. We've got some good games today. And you look all the way down the leagues. Championship, League 1, League 2.
absolutely brilliant looking forward to this afternoon this Saturday show is built around the 3 o'clock kick-offs Cammy Bell now the TV schedulers haven't really done us a favour because there is only one Premiership game at 3 o'clock this Saturday but across the weekend there are so many big matches it all started last night as Gordon was saying Rangers only managing a draw against Dundee United two big Premiership games today two tomorrow Flag Day on Monday night Celtic against Dundee loads of games down the divisions loads to look forward to and enjoy Absolutely Andrew, yes it all starts, it started last night but then it starts today, all the teams up and down the leagues will be really looking forward to this afternoon, you've got the game at Falkirk Stadium today at 3 o'clock, the only one and then you've got the Aberdeen Hearts game later on today so yes some really big games to look forward to and as Daz said it'll be interesting to see what all the Rangers fans made of last night.
And I should say that, not that I'm not happy to see you, Roger, it's great to have you in the studio, but I want to give a shout out to our old pal Hugh Keevans. He's been a bit poorly over the last couple of weeks, but he's on the mend and he'll be back in no time, I'm sure.
I was in contact with the old soldier yesterday. His last three, four words to me were, I shall be back.
oh yes so get well soon Hugh Keevans we will be hearing from you very shortly I have absolutely no doubt but the football stops for no man what a weekend we are in for of course as I mentioned Dundee United won Rangers won the big one last night we'll look into that in a bit more depth Derek McInnes' first match in charge Rangers not able to win on the first day of the season for the fourth campaign running so we'll get your thoughts on that a bit later on Rangers fans but lots of action to concentrate on for the next few hours of course we'll hear from you from five o'clock onwards I'll give you the shout when it's time for the open line but for now you can sit back relax and enjoy all the preview all the action all the reaction to what is happening across this weekend there is as I said only one premiership game at three o'clock today there is one later game but the one at three o'clock is Falkirk against St Mirren let's start going around the grounds let's speak to David Friel who's watching on at that one at the Falkirk Stadium
