I think that the first, as you mentioned there in your little summary, I think that the first half, maybe the first 25-30 minutes, we looked really off the pace. It looked like we were struggling to adapt to the shape, which is strange because most of the players have played it before under Clark. But Once we actually started getting a foothold in the game, I thought we went long quite a lot in those first 20-25 minutes. And then we started getting the ball down. John McGinn started getting into the play. He seemed a bit lost at the start. Then he started picking up pockets of space. And when that happened, we started influencing the play a lot more.
But that second half was... It was much more what I expected. I wasn't expecting it to be wholesale changes and be completely altered. I felt we were going to play similarly to Steve Clarke at times today. I didn't think it's possible for him to change it all in a week. but yeah second half was really really got a few concerns about the still with the strikers I don't think personally I don't think Oli McBurnie is much of an upgrade on Lyndon Dykes

big similarity in terms of their role for the team, even if it's not the exact way, but what they bring to the team and what they bring in. I'm not saying he's better or worse than Dykes, but I think there's a question to be said, can he do that role as good as him?

I don't think we can just look at this performance and then go, everybody that got us to the tournaments, everybody's better today than what they were, right? I agree with Simon slightly. I think Dykes did bring a lot. I don't think he could play the way McBurnie played the second half, dropping that into a deep linking up. I don't think that was his game. But Dykes was very good for Scotland. Let's not be kidded here. We kind of just discard these guys who got us to three major tournaments. But I just thought the link up at times with McBurnie and Gilmore in the middle of the park was good. They were getting to know each other's game. I was very positive about Scotland, especially second half tonight.
