How close is it to the MLB trade deadline and what's the host's live setup?
All right, here we go. We've got less than 30 minutes until the Major League Baseball trade deadline. Around 29 minutes left. 6 p.m. Eastern Time, 3 p.m. Pacific. What are the Padres going to do? That is the big question. I'm doing this live on Instagram and on YouTube. On Instagram, I'm seeing that my face is much bigger than it is on YouTube, so apologies for that. I don't know why that's happening. This is the first time in a while that I've done this, so I'm just doing it so that the Instagram audience can get it as well. At this point in time, I don't know how to fix that on Instagram, so we're just going to have to live with that. For today, I don't know if I can see your comments on Instagram, but if people would like to comment, please go ahead.
Oh, maybe I can change it this way. No, same thing. Okay. I don't know then. Anyway, we've got less than 30 minutes left. Oh, maybe I didn't hit the go live button on. Is it live now? I think it is.
Okay.
Great. So the Padres obviously today, if you did miss it, you can go catch it later. But I put out my reaction already to the Padres acquiring Robbie Ray. I love that move. Sure, they had to give up their fourth and ninth ranked prospects. But you're going to have to give up stuff that maybe you don't want to give up. I saw a bunch of fans that are all of a sudden experts of this 17-year-old that I already forgot his name. We got a bunch of experts and a bunch of guys that love that guy. And that guy, I guess, was going to be the next Alex Rodriguez or something, the next Fernando Tatis Jr. And so fans are so mad that the Padres gave up this 17-year-old that's not going to reach the big leagues until –
20, I don't know, 2030. Maybe before that, but we'll see. And then the other guy that they gave up, their fourth-ranked prospect, it's one of those where I think that was a name that I mentioned before the announcement happened of who they were going to have to give up. I did mention the guy's name. They've already updated the farm system, so I Miguel Mendez, that was his name. Let me go find the Giants farm system. Miguel Mendez now ranks 13th in the Giants farm system, by the way. And then Daniel Hernandez ranks 21st. So I don't know if that's going to change people's thoughts on it.
But yeah, on MOB.com, John Yell Hernandez ranks 21st.
And Miguel Mendez ranks 13th.
But as for Robbie Ray, I love it. It's a starter that he's won a signing award. He's pitched in the postseason. He has an ERA close to one in his recent outings. Like he's one of the best starting pitchers in the league right now. And that's just the facts. That's the bottom line. And that's what this Padres team needs is another guy that can actually start games for you and, like, actually be a starter and go six innings. And Robbie Ray's gone eight innings a couple of times. And we just saw him this past week against this offense, and he went six innings and gave up one run. That's what we need in this rotation. And that's someone that you don't know about Musgrove. You don't know about Pavetta. You don't know about their health.
So if you want to get out of a wild card series, obviously you got to make the post season, but let's say they make the post season. You have to get out of the wild card series. The way that things were lined up, not super confident, but you'd have to take two out of three in a wild card series. And so Michael King and Robbie Ray can give you a good shot to take those two games. And then with the bullpen they have, Adrian Mahone's not going to go anywhere. Mason Miller's not going to go anywhere. And you have Estrada. Jason Adams is going to come back in August. So I feel good about where the pitching staff is at. I think the big question now is we are 24 minutes away. The big question is, can they get a bat?
Are they going to get a left-handed outfield bat? And so we'll see. That's what we're waiting on. There's been plenty of moves since Robbie Ray went to the Padres. I was shocked by the Red Sox-Giants move that just happened. Marcelo Meyer going to the Giants, but I have Karabas' stream on right now, and he was like, well, go...
