What happened during the episode’s chaotic opening and why was there a missed week?
Good grief, you've joined us for episode 108 of Talking Nuts a Peanuts Podcast, where myself the chief and my co-host Parky gone for one month's worth of Charles Schultz's Magnum Opus. That is the newspaper strip Peanuts every week of the year, apart from when we have weeks off. But we're on somewhat of a Oh no, we had a week off last week, Parky. I was gonna say we're on a big roll, but no, we had a week off. Now I hear him on the end of the line.
It is Parky, how you doing? Good good Chief. Uh apologies listeners for uh EFI last week. I think we we had Chief message me on Thursday to say late notice he can't record. We record on a Friday. I was like, no, it's not that late notice, it's like still got twenty four hours. Chief thought it was Friday. Um I couldn't do the Friday anyway for um some what have you reason. And um oh car caring for a service, yes. Um and And yeah, and then we were gonna do it on Sunday and forgot and that's a really kind of dull story. But there we are. Um we missed last week. Um but anyway, it's all good. It's all good. We need to drag this out as long as possible. I feel twelve years or whatever the kind of the the I think it's too quick.
I think that's gonna leave that's gonna leave an empty gap at the end of our lives, Chief. Right. Okay Um and you know, we need to to to rage um against the dying of the light. Okay. Yeah.
We are the weekly podcast. When one of us has got dementia and we're still trying to do the podcast, you remind us of that party.
And we start again.
Yeah. Yeah.
Can we make can we make cause can we make jokes like that? Um good. Yeah? Yeah, okay. All right. Okay. I mean I've probably got it, so you know, it's it's fine. It's it's it's fine. Um yeah. Have you how have you been, Chief? You you had a good week? Any pizza related uh fights?
No, no Pizza LED fights. Um I did do my whiskey tasting assessment on Tuesday. Oh well. And that's so that was to that was to see if I passed, you know, external person comes in, you know, is he checking all the boxes? Yeah, so puck happy to say I pass over now I am now uh an official whiskey tasting host 'cause all the previous times when I've said I'm a whiskey tasting host, slight lie there 'cause I was actually a whiskey retail guy. Um and I hadn't actually qualified to be a host, but now I am actually a host. So what did the what did the exam? En titled. It just involves doing one of the four different sessions we run, um, just doing it for effectively, you know, a a a third party person. Yeah. Um, to make sure that the content um 'cause we we effectively we have scripts.
And everyone you kind of still hit all the s all the points in the script but then everyone kinda does their own version of it so to speak. Yeah. And so it's making sure you're hitting all the you know the historical bits, the factual stuff, um, uh using all the props and things like that. So just making sure you're not an absolute clown. Um so pleased to say not an absolute So please just say not an absolute clown, partial clown.
Partial and i so I guess uh oh we're we're not at the stage yet where you could do like a blind taste test of a number of bourbons and um tell each one apart and what are the significant notes.
Um pro pro but pr well I can tell you I can yeah, 'cause I have taste buds so I can tell you what they taste like. Um fire what whiskey tastes like. Um but yeah, so uh you know, I could probably taste the difference between our range of bourbons, blind taste testing, I think. Wow. Um but you know, if you start bringing in other companies' bourbons, I I might, you know, not not yeah know a hundred percent. But um hey look, we're it's it's We're all learning every day, Park.
We are, yeah, it's a growth mindset chief. I like to hear that. Um I I was embarrassed muchly on a blind taste test once in when I was I was living in Canada. Um and I'm a cola fan. I love I love Coca Cola, I love Pepsi Cola. Um and there was a taste test in downtown Toronto of can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke and I was like no problem. Of course any anyone can do that.
