What’s the opening banter and why did the hosts miss last week’s episode?

Chief Stride 0:07
Good grief, you have joined us for episode 111, all the ones, 111 of Talking Nuts and Peanuts podcast, where myself, the chief, and my co-host, Parkey, chronicle one month's worth of Charles Schultz's magnum opus. There is the newspaper strip Peanuts every week of the year, apart from when we have a week off. We had a week off last week, in fact. I know we're back on the regularly scheduled programming, as they say, or as I say. Is Parky with us?
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 0:33
Chief, I am here. Yes, 1-1-1. Do they call that a half Nelson or something in cricket? Do they? Yeah, there used to be. There was an umpire. This is what fascinates our American listeners who are no doubt all, you know... I'll correct you there, Parkey, slightly. Listener. Listener, sorry. Former American listener. And there used to be an umpire called David Shepard in cricket, and when the batting team got to 1-1-1, he would stand on one leg because of... I don't know if it was like a curse or it was... What do you call it? You don't walk under a ladder. Superstition. Superstition. That's the word I was looking for. Stevie Wonder. And so when I remember one game watching, it was England versus the West Indies.
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 1:24
And... I think the West, no, England were on 1-1-1 and Sheppard got on his one leg. I think you can see this on YouTube. Would stand on one leg and then all the West Indian fielders started standing on one leg around him. It's very funny. Very funny moment in cricket.
Chief Stride 1:41
Okay.
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 1:42
Yeah. It's the one thing I remember.
Chief Stride 1:43
Don't Google up that, listeners. Sorry, listener.
Yeah.
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 1:48
Yes, yes. How have you been, sir? I'm good. I'm good. I'm warm, as I think the rest of the country is. I have a constant kind of film of sweat at the moment. I'd turn my desktop fan on, but I think it would probably interfere with the recording. One thing that I've been working on this week, Chief... regards this podcast actually to make it even better is i have this i have this thing where i talk quickly i know i talk quickly my diction is poor one word goes into another and um it kind of comes across as mumbling and incoherence um i should really have been an alcoholic and hanging out in parks i think you're doing yourself a disservice there parky thanks chief you know i compare myself to you you know the king of diction the king of enunciation
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 2:37
Anyway, I started watching these YouTube videos because the issue with being chief is that I constantly have to repeat myself. Now, I'm putting it on me. It's my enunciation. It's my diction. It could just well be that no one's paying attention to me or they have bad hearing. But I watched a couple of YouTube videos this week on how to enunciate and better. And one of the things I'm trying to work on is overexpressing. You can't see this. We don't record this podcast visually. No, but the mouth is doing kinds of gymnastics. Oh, my word. It's like Mick Jagger here. He's got some big lips.
Yeah.
Parky (Parky / Parkey) 3:23
I'm trying to over-enunciate this. This is a forum for me to practice. Yes, behind the curtain of being radio. Exactly that. But that's been kind of my week, is trying to stay cool. We missed last week, listeners. We apologise for that. That was my fault. I was... in East Yorkshire for a friend's wedding. Very nice. There's a big, it's in the town called Beverley, which is just north of Hull. And they've got this beautiful big minster there. It's a bit like York Minster, not quite as grand, but not far off either and far less well-known. and so it's beautiful place so they had the wedding in there and it was one of those free booze weddings which gets a little bit can get a little bit messy yeah and they had some quite high strength IPAs in there which I was lapping up yeah with gusto but very good yeah but that's been my week chief Annunciation and Beverly okay there you go yeah how have you how have you been
Chief Stride 4:33
Yeah, not too bad. I have also been sweating even now sitting here at circa 9am. I got a film of sweat on the forehead. I took an ice bath yesterday. I took an ice shower to get a good clean. Well, no, it's like a lukewarm shower to get a good clean.
