And um I m am quite, you know, if you've been listening to me for a while, you know I have a problem Uh how did uh Groucho Mark say I would never I would never want to be part of any or club that would have me as a member, like something like that. Um it's not a self-hating thing. It's just I I get very uncomfortable when things become programmed. You know, like I have no trouble reading Alan Watts or Carlos Castaneda or you know, Rumi poems or whatever, uh But like I'm not gonna sign up for the workshop. because then I'm in a room full of people who share my
interest in this and that starts to make me uncomfortable. I I don't know if it's um like an immune response to Any kind of mass Hysteria, maybe? Uh, I'm not sure where it comes from, but I've always felt it. I remember feeling it as a child, like maybe seeing some, you know, Nazi movie or some war movie and the Nazis were all like marching in step and, you know, Heil Hitlering and it was it something about that just scared the shit out of me, which I guess you know, made sense if it was a Nazi movie, but I feel the same Fear and revulsion when I see You know. people on my side marching in lockstep or You know Burning man makes me uncomfortable because of that. It's like, oh, we're all Burners like uh. Yeah.
It reminds me of that scene in um The Life of Brian. I don't know if I can set it up properly, but if you haven't seen Life of Brian, it's a very funny send up of the life of Jesus. Um, but the wise men get confused and they go to the wrong manger and So the whole thing is that everybody's worshiping the wrong guy, just this dude Brian. And Everybody's following him around and everything he says is like, Oh, oh, he's speaking, the the prophet is speaking, and he's like, Jesus, just leave me alone. And at one point he's like having sex with a woman, and after the sex he opens the shutters of the window to get some fresh air, and the there's like a crowd of hundreds of people down below, like waiting for him to and he's like
Guy it's like paparazzi following him around or something. And he gets really pissed off and he's like
You don't you people realize like I am not the prophet? Don't follow me, don't listen to me. I'm nobody, I'm just a guy. You you're all individuals, you're all unique. Don't you understand that?
And the whole crowd goes, We're all individuals, we're all unique, which is in itself really funny.
